Without a doubt, uniqueness is the quality most closely associated with Wendy Williams. She’s had a career like no other pornstar, building on her first nude photoshoot in 2002 all the way to the heights of XBIZ and AVN wins for Transsexual Performer of the Year. Wendy Williams gives insight into her one-of-a-kind perspective in this new AE Q&A.
What kind of girl where you growing up?
At that time of my life I was still my “boy” persona, so I was confused, shy, and awkward. I had nothing to reference my feelings to, so I just felt there was something wrong; sadly, I thought it was something wrong with me.
When I wasn’t battling with my inner demons, I was a clown of sorts. I was fairly popular in school when I wasn’t being teased or bullied. Most of my family would say I was a loner, but that was the way I handled dealing with my emotions.
How did you choose your stage name?
In the mid 90s I started working in the gay clubs as a “drag performer” and I was working at a gay club in Huntington, WV when I decided I wanted to do the show. A Queen said, “Hey, why not call you Wendy Williams because of the Porky’s character Wendy?” It fit because growing up I loved the name Wendy, and at that time I had a crush on a guy named Matt Williams, so it seemed the name to take.
When I crossed over from the clubs I didn’t know any better, so I kept that name. Now I wished I had been creative with my porn name, but it fits! Also, at that time Wendy Williams, who is now the T.V hostess, was a small time DJ and no one knew who she was, so when she became popular it helped in Google searches.
Tell us about shooting your very first scene after coming into the industry.
I am about to show my age LOL. I was living in Cincinnati, Ohio and met a guy from Ft. Lauderdale in an AOL chat room. I wanted to go see him but couldn’t afford it and it was he who said he heard of a company, ShemaleYum, who shot TG ladies of all transitions for ShemaleYum.com. I emailed the company and was approved to shoot 3 photo sets (it was before videos became a necessity on pay sites).
I was in early stages of transition so I lived as a boy during the day and dressed as a girl at night. I remember having to put makeup on and fly to Florida and how nervous I was socializing as “Wendy” in day time. This guy picked me up at the airport and took me to a hotel where I shot my photos the next day. I was so nervous and refused to remove my bra because I didn’t have breasts yet. The photographer kept asking if I needed him to fluff me and I just about asked him to leave. It seemed like it took hours to get it done but that was my first official shooting for a company. That was in 2002 I believe.

What pornstars would you consider yourself a fan of?
I am a Belladonna fanatic, even though I am not attracted sexually to females. For some reason, she has always been the female who I wanted to be and be with. She has always been so kind and helpful in my career. Even though she won’t take credit, I strongly think it was because of her that I got my toy line with Doc Johnson in 2010.

How has being in porn changed influenced your sex life off the set?
What sex life? I work so much whether its shooting for WendyWilliamsXXX.com, cam shows, or other companies like Trans500.com that when it’s time to relax, the last thing I think about is sex. When I am horny, I would rather just masturbate. However, when it comes to hooking up I have a tendency to want a younger guy who just wants a safe one-night stand.
What are some things we would be surprised to learn about you?
That I don’t like large crowds. Even after living as Wendy for 15 years, I am still very shy and panic in crowds. I really am a loner when it comes to doing things. I am not a club person unless I am working in it, and I don’t like large events as still have those panic moments. I much prefer to be laid up in a bed or couch watching TV with a laptop nearby for my social media.
Is there any message/big projects you want to pass along to your fans & how can your fans reach you?
In September I have two DVDs being released of which I am on the cover of one: TS Cock Strokers 6.
I also play the role of Diana Sword for the parody DVD Kaitlyn Gender: Based on a NOT so True Story from Trans500. I really think that project is going to be something everyone will be talking about.
