‘Pornstar Tori Black: How the Industry Has Changed’ (VIDEO)
Several years ago, former AVN Performer of the Year winner Tori Black launched a comeback with a new showcase movie. She noticed something interesting in the industry upon her return: the performers that were around her were not quite the same as they were in her early days as a star. (They were even better!) Tori discusses this shift in a clip from our 2017 interview.

Tori: I guess the most surprising changes — and not to be, like, totally rude . . . but when I first got in, the number of beautiful faces and beautiful natural bodies was actually much less. And as we’ve progressed — I think it’s because more people are so much more accepting of pornography and sexuality — we have a ton of beautiful women in our industry. And as you can tell, there’s a pattern that ebbs and flows as far as what’s in fashion for boobs, butts, you know, whatever. But I’ve just seen a dramatic facial change where there are a lot of these really young girls coming in with just flawless faces. And I love it, because porn is always something that is, you know, the “dirty girl” does, and I love that we’re breaking that stereotype. I do find it a lot harder for these new, pretty young girls to come break out and be superstars. It was a lot easier when I was around. But I just feel like the energy of the industry has become much more mainstream, which I think is a testament to society starting to accept us more. And I think that’s an amazing thing.
Dallas: Definitely! I think all your co-stars in your comeback movie [Tori Black is Back] are good examples of what you’re describing, the new vogue, for sure.
Tori: Yeah! You know, there’s a ton of girls that I could rattle off that I didn’t get a chance to work with but just have really pretty faces. You know, I go to these conventions, and you see the girls walking around, before they’re on the floor, they have no make up on, and I’m like, “You’re really pretty! You don’t need any makeup. You’re not a girl that chose porn as her last resort. You could have been a model. You chose to do porn because it’s something you wanted to do, which says something to me.”
