This month we explore another fetish that comes from Japan called Bukkake. It’s defined as a sex act in which one participant is ejaculated on by two or more participants. A popular niche in contemporary porn movies originating in Japan in the 1980’s then spreading to North America and Europe and has even crossed over into gay porn. An interesting side fact about this term is that the word bukkake is also used in Japan to describe a type of dish where hot broth is poured over noodles such as bukkake udon and bukkake soba. The popular belief is the origin of the practice was a form of punishment for adultery on women in medieval Japan. That belief was easily found to be false as the real punishment for adultery was decapitation. They didn’t mess around with cheating back in the day in Japan, ouch! The actual tracing of Bukkake is represented in pornographic films in the mid to late 1980’s in Japan. A primary factor in the development of Bukkake was due to the mandatory censorship in Japan where genitals must be pixelated in films. Since their films could not show penetration they looked for other ways to depict sex acts without violating Japanese law. Oddly enough with this law semen does NOT need to be censored creating a loophole leading to the creation of Bukkake.
In the late 1990’s the practice of Bukkake spread to Europe and North America as porn movies trending towards “harder” fetishes genres. It actually became the perfect segue for other trending fetishes of the time such as double penetration and gang bang films. In American made films pornographers even recognized the economic advantage to these type of films since they only required one actress, and often several amateur male performers whose pay rates were low. Another difference in the American made films was showing the female enjoying the scene whereas in Japan films it is shown as humiliation. The end result of the popularity is all about the ejaculation which is seen as sexual closure with the ultimate satisfaction of the male orgasm.
