Cherie: If you’re wondering if mommy porn is the next thing, unless the people at Visa change their minds, it isn’t, because capitalism runs porn, bizarrely.
Dallas: This is a very interesting topic in and of itself.
Cherie: Government doesn’t run porn. Morality doesn’t run porn. We don’t run porn. The consumers don’t run porn. Capitalists run porn. A very small group of people, actually!
Dallas: You’re right! And that does impact things in a way that I don’t think a lot of people understand.
Cherie: Why can’t I put my thumb in an ass? Visa. Why can’t I say “I’m your mommy”? Visa. Do you know what I mean?
Dallas: Right, so explain to people exactly what is going on there so they can understand the context of what you’re talking about.
Cherie: Well, if I want people to buy my porn – if you had a product, do you think it would be reasonable to sell that product on a worldwide stage without credit card processing? It’s possible, and people do it for the really gnarly stuff, because credit card processors say no. But most of the porn that we want to sell on DVD and online has to play by a set of rules. And those rules are designed by the credit card processors. “You follow our rules, and we’ll let people pay for porn using us. If you don’t follow our rules, you’re out.” So that’s it! We play their game. It’s so bizarre that pornography could be controlled by something so strange as this.
Dallas: Right, and a lot of what they mandate is quite arbitrary, really.
Cherie: Oh, yeah, for a while, they’re like, ‘You can’t have sex with someone who is tied up. You can have sex with someone who is tied up, but they have to have one limb free, they have to have two limbs free. You can put the thumb in the ass. You can’t. You can put something bigger than the hand in the ass but not . . . ‘ The rules are just bizarre. So if you see something really bizarre in porn and you’re like, ‘Why wouldn’t they just blah, blah, blah,’ there’s probably a reason, and it might be your credit card.
