Muscle Cramps, Open Windows Top List of Most Common Sex Blunders

In porn, sex almost always looks effortless and perfect. Everything unfolds smoothly, everyone experiences dazzling pleasure, the lighting is flattering and subtle, and every shift in position happens with ease. In real life, of course, things don’t always occur with such fluid facility. Sometimes sex is interrupted by embarrassing accidents and blunders, moments we’d all prefer to forget. Those bedroom faux pas became the subject of a new study published by Superdrug Online, which surveyed 2,000 people to compile a list of the most common sex embarrassments.

Topping the list? Muscle cramps, which have struck 13.3% of respondents during an intimate moment. Number two on the list did not involve a gaffe during sex but rather an inattentiveness to surroundings: 11.3% of people admitted to forgetting to close a window prior to sex on at least one occasion. Rounding out the top five common embarrassments were premature finishes, knocking over something, and unwelcome interruption by another person.

Interestingly, many of the items on the list have been themes of porn movies, despite being billed as avoid-at-all-costs horrors by the study. Biting someone, kissing someone’s underarm, introducing a food item to the bed, and being interrupted all made the list and yet all have also featured as elements of porn scenes at some point or another.  It only goes to show that what might be a mortifying embarrassment to some people may be a surprising turn-on or fetish to others.
