Axel Braun: 2024 Adult Empire Lifetime Achievement Award Winner
If you know even a little about porn, you know Axel Braun. Born into the world of film and directing, Braun was destined to leave his mark on the adult entertainment industry and it didn’t take long for him to do just that. With over 300 movies under his belt, including the parodies we all love, he’s been able to consistently create movies that are visually stunning, get the most out of stars and showcase their acting skills, genuinely impress and provoke thought, and, most importantly, turn us on. Winning Adult Empire’s 2024 Lifetime Achievement Award is a well deserved nod to Axel Braun’s brilliance and contributions to entertainment that we’ll enjoy for a lifetime. Recently we had the opportunity to speak with him about winning the award and what his career and legacy mean to him. (See full video interview at the bottom of this post.)
Adult Empire: Congratulations on winning Adult Empire’s 2024 Lifetime Achievement Award!
Axel Braun: Thank you so much. It was such a surprise. I’m like, my God, I’m happy that I’m still winning awards a year and a half after I retired. I’m very honored. One of the things that I focused on in my career is I wanted to win awards. My father started producing and directing in the sixties, and I always wanted to top him, not because I disliked him, but the opposite. That gave me the motivation to get to his level and to surpass his level.
We have to talk about one of your biggest movies, Star Wars XXX, so we have to talk about that.
Yes, that’s the big one that got all the awards attention. I know Allie Haze completely killed it in that one. So look, I’ll I’ll tell you something about Star Wars. I mean, I could write a book…I’m a big Star Wars fan, and keep in mind all the parodies that I did, all the movies that I did, I did for myself…and in doing for myself it helped me free myself form wondering what people would think.
Why didn’t you want to direct parodies?
No, I never wanted to do parodies! Like, come on. I didn’t want to, because parody things have been around forever. My father’s 1st movies in 1961 were parodies.
Is there anything in the industry that has your attention right now?
So many things have made me like? God! I wish I could do! But there are many projects that I wish I I had made, and and that you know it is what it is. Okay. But there’s nothing right now that you’re like. Oh, that would be a great like. Somebody should tackle that.
On the philanthropy and consultations.
I do it for free because…I feel that I’ve been offered to consult many different areas of this industry, and, first of off, I don’t need to do it, and second, if I give you my advice and if you’re paying me for it you don’t know that it’s real advice. If I give it to you for free, you know it’s real.
