Podcast Interview: Jewelz Blu Talks ‘Deep Into Blu’

You know, I would say I would kind of compare it a little loosely to something kind of like The Little Mermaid, but more adult, because, as you know about mermaids, her land legs and kind of diving into all the human pleasures on land and going through sexual exploration.

I’ve always liked mermaids, but it was funny —  when they approached, when I got approached about doing a showcase and a concept, [Elegant Angel producer] Daniel had a mentioned, oh, you know, it’d be cool if there’s a fairy or nymph type of thing. And I’m like, well, you know, I do a lot of stuff like that already, and, I don’t know, if I had to compare myself to a mythical creature, I would definitely say mermaid.

I mean, I’d say partly [I was inspired] by just mermaids in general, you know, the mythology, the symbolism. Also a lot of media, too. There’s a lot of shows I remember that had like mermaids in it, when I was growing up as well. So I don’t know — I just always kind of vibed with it.

Well, I wanted the showcase, each scene in there to kind of be a build up to the main event, which is the gangbang. You wouldn’t start off a movie of any type with the most intense [scene]. I mean, maybe you could, but I feel like I really wanted to kind of showcase in general, the whole sexual exploration, going from an anal boy/girl scene to DP, and then the girl/girl/girl DP, and then the gangbang. So I kind of wanted it to kind of build up to that final moment.

That was something that they suggested adding in. Because when I was mapping out the story, I was like, yeah, you know, either she gets a vision, or she hears something, and yeah, we’ll make it a whole kind of voyeur type of scene where I’m in the water watching Haley [Spades] and Codey [Steele] on land having sex. And like, “Oh my goodness. What is this? This is so exciting!” Because, overall the concept is similar to The Little Mermaid, in a way. Like my mermaid, I’m getting pretty bored of the ocean life. I want to experience something new and different.

A voyeur, a little bit, but I’m definitely an exhibitionist 100%. So I feel like that switch, you know, it felt very true to me as a person. And even in the first scene from being the voyeur to the exhibitionist, they wanted to kind of convey this my first time experiencing this. So I’m not going to be necessarily talking a lot, you know, because this is my first you know, taste of what it’s like to be on land.

In terms of the narration, with that type that dialogue that was actually the director that had put that in, Sid Knox. It kind of helped the story flow. And he did some research on some mermaid mythology and whatnot. And so I felt, I don’t know, he wanted to have that in to help the story flow. Because essentially some of the parts of the movie are kind of like a dream sequence where I’m using  a siren call to kind of call forth my like, suitors and lovers, and then indulge in these really hot sex scenes.

The shoot day, overall, that day, it was very fun, very long day in terms of everything that we had to get, because we started the day, you know, obviously me and hair and makeup, and then we were getting all these pool shots of me swimming in the pool with the mermaid tail, which essentially is a stunt in its own. It’s very, very strenuous, but it was really cool, getting all those shots. And Isiah, I think he’s one of my favorite performers to work with. He’s such a joy. He’s always just great energy, very passionate. And for my showcase, you know, I wanted each person that was in it to kind of have good chemistry, be a joy to work with, and just like give some hot sex — I think that’s really important. And so I had a lot of say in getting to pick who I wanted. But that scene itself, that was very tricky, because we were having sex outside on a rock, essentially, which I knew that’s what I was getting into when I went to pick the location. And when I’m like, yeah, well, the sex is outside, and so I feel like if I didn’t have him as a great scene partner, I probably would have struggled a lot more, because trying to do anal on a rock outside, there’s a lot of different elements going into play.

It’s one of those things. As a performer, I feel like a lot of people watching any type of adult movie or whatnot, they don’t really think of those things — like, yeah, it’s just like hot sex happening. And we make it look so easy, but it’s like we’re doing like gymnastics, almost. We’re balancing. We’re working core muscles. We’re doing all these like crazy things, and on top of that, making a great sexual performance for the camera to see and also focusing on that part as well. So I feel like that scene definitely, it was super fun to shoot. It was one of those ones where at the end of the day I was like, yes, this feels so good. I’m glad we accomplished this thing right here.

Luckily enough, I actually have a little experience swimming in mermaid tails like that, just for fun things I’ve done in the past, doing photoshoots or literally even just like playing mermaids with friends. So I feel like that’s that kind of helped me having that prior experience, too, like wearing a tail, because I knew I was getting myself into. I mean, I picked out the wardrobe. I did all the wardrobe styling for myself and the girls and whatnot. So I feel like if I didn’t have that experience, I didn’t know how to swim like decently, then I don’t think that would have worked out.

The ones in the movie, I got specifically for the scenes, but I had one before, like in my like wardrobe, existing already, but it wasn’t like as glamorous and, like, showstopper. So I wanted to get something like elaborate for the movie. We’re going all out for this thing, so I wanted to make sure. But a lot of planning literally went into the whole mapping out the concept for scenes from the storyline to act before we even shot anything, too.

I love him [Isiah Maxwell]. Every time I’ve worked with him, it’s always just a top notch experience where I’m like, wow. And for me, when I’m doing anything on camera, I want for especially this movie, I wanted it to be very true each sexual experience on camera for this showcase to be very real and authentic and have actual, real passion. Not that I don’t have that in my scenes, but I feel like it’s so much easier to emulate when you’re working with people that you get along with really well.

So that was important for me, because I believe porn should have all different types of elements, and it shouldn’t just be serious. I believe porn should be sexy. It should be campy and funny. You could be very mysterious and like just plain and whatnot. But I feel like for the showcase, I wanted to have all those, really fun elements, because, you know, we’re having sex on camera. When you think about it’s kind of funny and ridiculous, but it’s hot at the same time. And so I wanted to make sure we had some humor elements into it, too. Because I feel like, you know, that keeps things interesting. And not necessarily, super over the top humor, but just very subtle things like him, “Oh, I don’t know how to swim.” And then I pop up, you know, from the water, and he sees me.

My vision for the DP was like Venus and Pearl. So I wanted to get very opalescent, like we’re in the inside of a seashell. Everything from the colors, you know, I like helped. I like came to set early that day to help them kind of style the set with all the draping fabric and lights and essentially my vision for that scene. Because I had this amazing experience with Isaiah, I was like, “Oh, but I need more. I’m craving more. I want two at once.” And so that that was kind of the vision for that. And then I do my siren call. And then I attract, both Zach [Wild] and John [Strong] into my magical mermaid cove. That’s very dreamy, like, and so I just wanted that whole vision to be super magical. And I also wanted a contrast with all the scenes as well, you know, from having things outdoors to things indoors with really pretty lighting, keeping up with the same colorfulness. Since we’re shooting outside, there’s the colorfulness of the set that we have from the pool and what I’m wearing, and then kind of like having a good flow with that through the other scenes.

I’d worked with Zac before, but actually not John, but I had taken the recommendation because what was really important for me, especially in a DP scene, or a scene where, it’s two guys, like a boy/boy/girl type of thing, like the guys, in my belief they need to work well together. So I wanted to make sure that there was a great scene chemistry. And then they suggested that John would be amazing. So I was like, okay, I haven’t worked with him, but I’m trusting this part of the process, and I felt like it was such an awesome scene with how everything came out. That day was definitely very tricky for me, but everything worked out. And I felt like when we finished the scene, I feel like it was such a killer scene.

Yes, he has a lot of energy. I feel like this is my first time working with like him with another guy, and I felt like it was super awesome. Like everyone was a team player, especially him. And I felt like I was in good hands, and I was going to be taken care of. So I felt like it was good, and we had a good energy flow too, still, because I feel like when people are talking about Zac’s energy, I think a lot of the times, it’s like he has a really great gonzo energy. And in this scene, we definitely are giving that gonzo vibe, but we definitely still build into it. Because it’s my first on-camera DP scene, you can’t really necessarily go all in at the very start of the scene. You’ve got to build into it. And also that’s kind of telling the story of the sexual exploration on camera as well.

That day, I was nervous because there’s a lot of prep that goes into it personally for us female performers, and my prep wasn’t going as planned on set. And so I was kind of panicking, and I had to keep cool, because a lot of people don’t realize is, not only does anything anal-related take physical prep, but it’s also very mental. And so you can literally psych yourself out, not be able to do it. So things aren’t going as planned. Plan for me, I had woken up super early that day to get to set to help them stylize the set, and then get into hair and makeup, and then get ready for the scene, do the pictures. And all those other little elements that go into play. So it was funny, because before we started the sex, I let them know. I was like, “Hey guys, just letting you know, earlier I was struggling, but we’re doing good. I just want to put that out there.” And everyone was super attentive. I felt like I had the best crew for this, because everyone took great care of me. If I needed water, coconut water, that that was my drink of choice on set, anything at all. Everyone was like [there] to help make it happen.

So that scene was super fun. Definitely had some challenges as well. But when I was making out the concept for the scene, I literally had my mood board out. I had a separate document of writing out the story of what’s going to happen next. And I knew in my showcase, I wanted to have a girl/girl/girl scene. Originally, I was thinking of making it a blowbang, but I’m like, well, you already have a gangbang, and I feel like it’s kind of redundant at that point.

And so I wanted to make something like that. I felt like the three-way girl scene allowed the story to flow better. And so with that, obviously like in the movie itself, I wanted to have as many of my friends in it as I could. I put Haley Spades in there, Adria Rae, Leigh Raven. And so, for that scene, my idea was okay, my mer-sisters, they come down from the ocean with me. And I’m showing them, like, you know, ”Oh, my God. Look at this awesome thing. We can go on land and experience all these really cool things. Sex is great.” And also, I just think lesbian sex is super hot, especially when you can make it really hardcore. And I love a theme, too. And so that day, when we were on site, it literally didn’t feel like we were working at all, because it’s just us girls in the pool swimming around, literally playing mermaids for the day. And then we got to — like the scene that day definitely was difficult. Because we made it happen. But I am also swimming all day, so, you know, before the sex happens. So I’m like, whoa. Then we got to do the scene, but we shot it at sunset, and we had, there’s definitely some humor, there’s some funny parts in the sex scene, too. And that one was a little tricky, because we’re also, again, we’re doing it on the side of the pool, on a hard surface. So we’re working with all the elements. And I’m like, this is what I knew I was getting into it. But when you’re in the moment, you’re like, okay, we’ve to really hold. All pulled together. And I feel like Adria and Leigh, both of them together, are such strong performers. And I felt like all of us together had a great on-camera chemistry as well. And when you have a difficult scene like that, you need to have a really strong performer who’s willing and down to — I don’t want to like necessarily say the word suffer —  but you know, you’ve got to for your art a little bit.

I feel like it would have definitely been cool to do a blowbang. But I was just trying to think of story wise, how it would work. And it wasn’t really making sense in my mind with the story, because the whole point of this whole showcase, they wanted a story as well. So I’m like, okay, story, let’s do it. I got this. Which is funny, because when I imagined, in the past, doing a showcase, I never necessarily imagined doing something like this, to this extent, where there is a story and a buildup and things like that, which I think makes it so much more dynamic and interesting. And there’s not a lot of crazy dialogue or anything, but it’s just like there is a story in the whole movie, you know, you can kind of tell, like, what’s happening through those bits of like the monologue overlapped over and then, you know, the other the people that are in it as well.

Because when, when I was approached about, like, yes, we’re into a gonzo thing, that’s cool. And they’re like, no, we’ve been kind of leaning more into stories. And I was like, okay, that’s not what I had necessarily envisioned from the get-go. But then I really thought on it. I literally did a lot of thinking. And then I was thinking, you know, because originally Daniel had mentioned, what if you did like a fairy or nymph thing? And I was like, yeah, that would be cool. But I feel like a lot of times in porn, I get casted as a fairy or nymph, which I would have been really cool. But then I know the idea of mermaid just came to me instantly, and then I was super inspired, you know, got to the planning immediately,

So when I was mapping out the concept for each part of like the story, I felt like we had to have pirates in there at some point. Originally, I was envisioning the three-way girls scene to be pirates. But I was like, no, I think it’d be cooler if they were mermaids. And so I was like kind of in and out on the idea. And then originally for the gangbang, I wanted them to be actual sailors. It was going to be literally sailors, sailor outfits. But with talking more and more, we’re like, okay, what if we, like, made them pirates, you know, they’re coming for the booty. They want their treasure. And I felt like it was a great closing for the movie as well, especially with the set. The set that was built for that, it was insane. I think, one of the coolest sets I’ve ever shot in, and even with the costuming, too, because the studio is built by Studio NSFB by Robert. And he does a lot of set builds and styling and people rent out his studio, you know, in the industry for sets. Like a lot of porn shot, I think anywhere from Adult Time stuff to like any other type of stuff shot in his place. And I told Daniel, I’m like, yeah, I feel like, if we’re going to do it inside of the studio, you need to message him. He’s built sets for me for my own content, because I like to do crazy things for my own OnlyFans content. And I guess Robert’s wife as well does costuming. So a lot of the costumes that were worn in that scene were stylized by her. I think it was his wife or someone’s wife and the crew — I can’t remember — did the costumes. And I thought it was the most amazing thing ever. I like walking in that day to see the set. It looks unreal. And then I feel like with the pirate theme as well, because they’re doing a card game, essentially, and that story bit has  some humor in it as well, which I think is really cool.

I just have to throw in a little shout-out to my makeup artist, Connie, because she did an absolute amazing job. All the makeup throughout the movie for me, and I feel like that really helps bring the idea and the concept to life as well. Like, I don’t know, I feel like any type of theming, costuming, lighting, set design, all that really helps bring the idea to life. And then you put the performers in there, too, and it makes it even more magical. But yeah, the gangbang scene, I think that was the best part, like the most perfect first gangbang that could ever be, in my opinion.

I think the main challenge was the warehouse that that set was in, there was no air conditioning. So it was really hot. But again, I feel like I’m working with the best people in here and it was such a great group of guys and they pushed through, because I know that could be really hard shooting. And yeah, that part was hard. I think just literally just because it was really hot in there. But other than that, I honestly felt like, I don’t know, it didn’t feel like the sex and it didn’t feel difficult at all to me. There was nothing in the sex itself, throughout the movie, [that] felt necessarily like challenging, because I feel like I did a lot of prep, you know, on my end as a performer to like, make these scenes happen, like, you know, off camera at home, and then also it is still like building because it’s very true to the movie. We’re having this sexual exploration, so it’s this nice build up.

So I felt super ready going into it. And it’s funny with the casting of the gangbang. It wasn’t my original, wish list that I had, but I couldn’t have asked for  a better, turnout, because all the guys in there, they’re all great veterans, work really great together and gave really strong sex. Surprisingly enough, casting for for gangbangs is hard, not only because of scheduling, but a lot of people don’t do them. A lot of guys don’t shoot group scenes. So for me, I wanted to make sure, again, every person that’s in this scene, I need them to be like a strong performer. I want to give a great scene. I don’t want it to be like a gangbang, where the guy’s just in corner the whole time. I try to keep this edge. I wanted it to be action packed. And Prince, just everyone in general is interacting with each other. Like, yeah, it’s your turn, or your turn — I don’t know — it was so hot.

And it was really cool to be able to bring that to life on camera. And then also in terms of the showcase scenes, because like I was telling you, I was caught between if I show a blowbang in there or not. Well, you know, if we’re having a gangbang, you don’t necessarily need a blowbang. Like, it’s kind of redundant, you know? And I like, but, yeah, the gangbang, not only it being a strong porn theme, but  a very big fantasy of mine, and it was super cool to be able to live that out on camera as well.

I mean, lot of it is, you know, it’s, I feel like it’s the same thing with doing a DP scene. It’s definitely not for everyone. And I think another thing of it, too — I feel like some people may not be comfortable. And I think getting things are so hot because, yeah, there’s a bunch of guys, but the focus is really all on the girl in the scene, or wherever, and so I think that’s why it’s such a big fantasy in general, because that’s every girl’s dream — everything everywhere, all at once, and you know all the attention on you.

Well, you know, I had worked with him a couple times before on Elegant Angel sets, and I don’t know, I thought he was a great vibe to work with before. But I went on kind of gonzo scenes. So it was interesting, this whole movie, where I’m getting to know the crew, and I feel like we had some of the best people in there. Like he’s getting in there, doing his thing, getting the best shots that he can. And, you know, I also was very open to all of his input, because you could have a cool idea, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s going to execute well, so you have to have planning and kind of thinking logistically about that. And so I don’t know, I had a lot of trust and all of them together, to make this happen. And I feel like, you know, anything that we added on, when he wanted to add on, kind of the voiceover monologue, I’m like, oh my god, this is absolutely amazing. I love it so much. I feel like it’s perfect for this movie. So I think he’s absolutely amazing.

So it’s funny. We did the voiceover recording — that was actually the day of the gangbang, and just like reading it, like on paper before, I spoke it out loud, I instantly knew, okay, this is the tone of voice I want to use, you know, very dreamy, kind of wistful type of vibe. And we did, we did two different takes, just like different little inflections at the end of each word. But I they were very happy with it from the get go, they’re like, wow, you have it right on the spot.

Oh, my goodness, that would be crazy. Having to do something in the ocean, there’s so much more that goes into that. I go in the ocean a lot, and you have to look at the tide, like when the tide is coming in to know when the water isn’t going to be super crazy. Also, swimming in the mermaid tails, technically, is not recommended to do in places like that. And I feel like, if we did do that in the actual ocean, we would need an actual legit underwater camera. We would need to have a boat, like a small boat out there, and someone in the water as a safety for me, because it is something that can be very dangerous. But if I had the opportunity to do it, I think I would do it. But it would take more than a week, because we took four days over the summer to shoot this movie, because the two of the scenes happened in one day. And, you know, both all these days, going into the showcase, I knew they were all going to be long days. So I was immensely prepared for everything. And I feel like, if a larger scale budget version happened, it would need more days to make happen. And because, if you’re working with actual natural elements like the ocean, that would make it a little crazy.

It was really cool, because at the end of each day, at the end of each shooting, I felt very satisfied as a performer, like I feel good in my heart, like that I gave my all, and I gave my best. Definitely, very nerve wracking, you know, having a company produce your idea. Not that I don’t have faith in my idea, but it’s still kind of like, crazy. Like, okay, wow. You guys like my idea. You want to bring it to life. This is insane. And then I’m like, oh shit. I hope it does well.

You know, I actually have not had a chance to watch all the scenes. I just got the link to the trailer, but I definitely do need to watch everything all as a whole. But it’s been really cool seeing everyone’s reaction, all of my scene partners. And it like, wow, this looks absolutely amazing. I’m obsessed. So I definitely need to watch it myself. But I’ve been hearing everyone else tell me. It’s been a little I’ve had a little bit of a crazy time these last few weeks, traveling and whatnot.

I’m excited. I’m, like, super excited to see it. Because we learned, all of us, from the crew to talent me, we poured our everything into this. It was a lot, and going swimming in the water, especially, like that those two days were super fun. It was all very fun, but very difficult. Because, you know, I’m essentially doing a workout, like, full body workout in the pool, swimming, getting these shots going underwater before the sex even happens. Everything that I’ve seen thus far, like the photos and whatnot, everything looks stunning. And I’m just like, wow, it’s so cool to see everything brought to life in that sense.

Well, I wanted it to be a play on words, because I instantly knew that was going to be the title before we even shot it, from the mermaid concept. Because so it’s a play on words with my name and the ocean and also the actual sex, we’re going deep. And it’s a cool title also.

Well, before I was in porn, I already had blue hair. And you know, I wish there was a crazy deep answer for but it’s literally my favorite color. And I feel like, if I were t, envision my aura, it would be blue. And blue is such like a  one of the rarest colors in nature, also. And when I think of like blue, blue could be very fun, exciting. It could be calm, cool, collected, mysterious, maybe — so many things. And there’s so many different shades to it. And when I started porn, you know, obviously I had blue hair. I had it before I joined the industry as well. And I just like, knew. I’m like, okay, I’m gonna make blue my name, I was already Jewelz before, but I’m gonna make blue my name. This is like, who I am. And also, I don’t know, I just vibe with it. Literally everything is blue all the time.

I don’t have any desire to change my hair color or anything, but it’s cool, because now when people think of like the color blue, they think of me.

That makes me so happy. I feel like when I joined the industry, like I won’t go too deep into it, because there’s already so much about it already, but when I came in and got with my agency, they were like, yeah, you’re going to change your hair color. You do this and that, you know, if you want to be successful. And I was thinking, wow, do I really want to do this that bad? I don’t know. If I have to change, you know? And then I was also told when I got my agent, no, you don’t need to change your hair color. They already want to book you. They love you, whatever. And, you know, I truly believe that it was so corny, but you could truly be successful with anything, if you just truly own it. And yeah, it’s interesting, too, because I don’t have tattoos, so I’m not an alternative model in that sense. And I feel like, over the years people are like, what if you can’t get bookings with your look and whatever. And I don’t necessarily see that my look has ever hindered me at being successful at all in any way, just because I feel like I’m very true to it. Even if I did want to change my look, I’m not going to let someone be like, Oh no, you shouldn’t do that and whatever, because your true fans will always be there for you and stick around. And you just got to be authentic in yourself. I don’t know that’s like, all I ever do, that’s the only thing you can really do, is like, you know, be yourself. So it’s so cheesy, I know, but it’s very true. So I don’t know, but that makes me very happy that others have seen me as inspiration, right?

When I joined the industry. I knew I wanted to be successful. And that was my one goal that I had if I’m going into this into porn, I want to be successful at it, because, it’s one of those things where porn, in terms of our society, what do you call it? People have different views on it, and the internet’s forever. So for me, I want to be fully committed to this. And so I want to make sure that I do everything that I can do to be successful, and just still be true to who I am as a person, and not [let] other things get in the way of that. So it does make me happy that people look up to me in that sort of sense. It makes me feel good, because if there’s any message that I could like put out into the world, it is literally, just be authentic to who you are, and also like to yourself in terms of your image as well. Because a lot of people, especially younger girls who get in the industry, they’re told, like, oh, you need to look this way to be successful and do this and that. And there’s no necessarily, cookie-cut like format to being successful in this industry, or any industry at all. It’s like whatever is working for you, that works for you, and I don’t know, for me, since I’ve kind of taken the old fashioned route, because I’ve been in porn for five years, and I didn’t do my anal debut until this year, and all this stuff. Because again, I wanted to build up in general, of my career as well, because I want longevity and I want to do things on my own terms and not let people try to tell me, oh, you need to be doing X, Y and Z now if you want to be successful. And that’s not the case. You can be successful in any which way that you see fit.

Wow, a hard question. That’s a really hard one. I was thinking honestly today that like if I did do another showcase, like whether it was like producing one on my own for my like fan sites, or you know, for another company. What would I want it to be? And I got this like vision in my head, what if it was cosplay themed, very anime, because I do like anime a lot as well. And I also don’t see a lot of cinematic cosplay porn. And I started to kind of make some of that, for my fan sites as well. So I was thinking that. But I feel like, if there’s a deep into blue part two, I feel like mermaid Jewelz, she’d be on the pirate ship, going on an adventure somewhere, island hopping, and maybe some other really crazy things.

When I was thinking of the pirate scene, that movie came up into my head a little bit, I don’t know, because I feel like porn is so cool. And when writing out this movie as well and envisioning it, one thing that was important for me is, I wanted there to be kind of moody elements and with the lighting as well, because I feel like a lot of the porn that we see is very — I call it sterile lighting, where it’s like gonzo, all white everything, which is cool. That’s a whole look and a vibe and an esthetic. But I wanted, you know, each scene, I wanted to have that gonzo element, but also put some fun flair in it because when I make my own content as well, I like to have a lot of colorful, moody lights, backlit elements in there that kind of help create this, like mood and this aesthetic for the scene.
