Kira Noir

As the first Black performer to win AVN’s Performer of the Year award (2023), Kira Noir holds a special place in porn history. For all her impressive industry achievements, though, Noir maintains a friendly, unpretentious demeanor, defined by an appealing candor. When contemplating her popularity in a 2022 interview, she joked, “Thank you all for jerking off to me!”

Born in California but raised mostly in Nashville, Noir was a self-described nerd in high school. She opened up sexually when she began work as an exotic dancer. After seeing adult superstar Bonnie Rotten perform in 2014, Noir realized that porn stardom was her ultimate calling. “It finally clicked in my head that that’s what I want to do. I want to do porn. I want to feature dance. I want to be a performer in this kind of way,” she told Adult DVD Talk.

Noir also drew inspiration from Skin Diamond, whose popular 2012 Elegant Angel showcase made a vivid impression. She considered several stage names, including Kira Fire and Kira Black, before settling on Kira Noir, inspired in part by a favorite anime character. Before long, Noir shot her first hardcore B/G scene, which propelled her into a series of scenes that helped her attain prestigious “Spiegler Girl” status. By 2020, she had become known as one of porn’s anal masters. “I’m really happy that I was able to explore anal in the safe confines of porn,” she told AVN.

Though Noir is equally passionate about gonzo and feature work, she finds particular satisfaction in the latter. “You get to learn lines and show off your acting skills. It’s a lot longer. It’s a lot more frustrating. But then at the end, you get to look at this amazing product and think, ‘Wow, I was a part of that!’” she told Holly Randall in 2024. Her acting talents led to three consecutive wins as AVN’s Best Supporting Actress, an unprecedented streak in the category. She also wowed fans with Kira Vs. Kira, an Elegant Angel showcase that scored Adult Empire’s top ranking upon release. More recently, Noir has collaborated extensively with Brazzers.

Ultimately, Kira Noir is driven by a sense of family and community. “I want to have a family, whether that’s a family of friends, or from marriage, or a family of animals. Just people that I love!” she told the Unfiltered podcast in 2022.
