‘Tori Black Is Pretty Filthy’: Adult Empire Porn Movie of the Year 2010
Ask any sports team. Getting to the top is an accomplishment, but staying on top is what accords historic status. The champion 1997 Florida Marlins are a footnote in baseball history, but the 1950s New York Yankees are the stuff of legend. The difference? The Marlins faded after their championship run, while the Yankees returned for title after title. By 2010, Tori Black was on top in every sense of the expression, and staying there, creating a dynastic run of her own. There’s no better showcase of the star’s talents than Tori Black Is Pretty Filthy, Adult Empire’s 2010 Porn Movie of the Year.
It’s easy to see why audiences were so thoroughly bewitched with Black. Like many movies directed by Mason, Tori Black Is Pretty Filthy is interspersed with interview segments. At one point, Black recounts how she moved to California in pursuit of porn stardom. When she was still based in Florida, a director told her, “You’re going to be a big star. You need to go to L.A.” Black tugs on her chin as if contemplating the idea. “You know what — I am a big star,” she says, her laugh mingling ever so slightly with embarrassment. Later, when asked what her best experience on Tori Black Is Pretty Filthy was, she giggles as she says, “When I took it all in my ass!” This sweet, sincere combination of girl-next-door and porn superstar makes her as irresistible as a first crush. She’s slightly innocent, slightly kinky. The title Pretty Dirty, with its implications of a shy beauty who surprises you with her naughtiness — “she’s actually pretty dirty” — is a perfect reflection of the star.
“What I learned on this movie is that she is also an amazingly brilliant and sexual person, and an insatiable performer. I think we captured something very intense, especially in her anal scene with Manuel [Ferrara]. I’m so thankful to have had the opportunity to work with Tori, and to get to know how special she is,” said director Mason in an AVN piece at the time of the movie’s release.
The anal scene is both playful and intense. Even Ferrara’s finger in Black’s booty seems to push Black to paroxysms of pleasure. It’s foreshadowing of how spectacular it will be once he slides his way fully into her, prodding her along with his uniquely vocal performance style. By the scene’s end, she seems utterly spent, falling back onto the couch as strands of dark fair, sticky with perspiration, drift across her face. And even at this point, deep into the movie, there are still three scenes to go.
After an illuminating interview sequence, this time on the vexing nature of pleasure itself, Black entrances the audience with another memorable tease sequence. Clad in suspenders and a black pinstriped trilby, Black evokes the stylish glamour of a Playboy centerfold shoot. The climax is much more explicit than anything Hefner could have ever put in the pages of his legendary magazine, though. Black and Marie Luv share a massive dick with Ice Cold, who completes the threesome.
Ferrara returns in scene four, which re-explores threesome territory, this time with Kristina Rose. The bubbling outdoor fountain that forms the focal point of the tease sequence is an appropriate foreshadowing of the torrential lust unleashed by the threesome itself. Rose’s energy and presence is similar to Black’s, making them ideal scene partners.
In the movie’s final segment, Black seems so singularly focused on consuming all dick in sight, it’s sometimes hard to correspond this sex behemoth with the amiable brunette in the interview segments. Memorably ensconced in a warehouse setting, one that will recur in Black showcases years later, Tori shares the screen with Mick Blue and James Deen, who penetrate her from both sides as she roars in approval.
Pretty Filthy was such a success, it inspired a sequel, which helped Black win a then-unmatched second straight AVN Performer of the Year Award. The movie also represents one of the high watermarks of Elegant Angel, which was in one of its most productive and creative periods. Like the Yankees, Black and Elegant just kept on hitting home runs.
