Watching Bobby Sox I was laughing from the start with the alien costume because I thought it was supposed to be taken seriously. When I see Jamie Gillis, it always makes me think of the first porn movie I saw back in high school days when my friends smuggled a porn movie in. He is definitely old school porn and apparently a grumpy drunk in this film. The picture quality is pretty good for such an old film. The acting is actually impressive, but the storyline is hard to follow. It keeps jumping all around. The main couple in this movie have a very volatile relationship; one minute they are fucking and the next they are fighting and she has a knife. Her boyfriend is a real jealous creep. So I am in the fourth scene and this movie has amazingly pulled me into the storyline. I’m actually looking forward to what is going to happen next. I’m still a little confused though; there is a lot going on. The port-a-potty scene is funny. This movie is choppy with characters popping in and out who you don’t know, but it’s clever. A nice anal sex scene (scene six) and the final scene is funny with a bondage flair. A great porn classic to celebrate Adult Empire turning 25 with, the first porn movie ever sold on our platform. These actors took this film seriously and delivered a great performance for a porn movie!

Dallas

Bobby Sox is a period piece set in the 1950s, but it also functions as a time capsule for the porn aesthetics of the 1990s. In this sense, it’s a retreat into two past eras at once, with only fitful effectiveness in each. The story involves a washed-up movie star (Jamie Gillis) descending upon a small town to promote a schlocky new movie (My Alien, My Love). Kidnapping, jealousy, and no less than 10 sex scenes soon follow! The story seems disjointed at times, although edits performed for the 1997 DVD edition may be to blame. (This version is 107 minutes while the original was 144 minutes, according to IAFD. Time for a special edition re-release?) Sex highlights include Shanna McCullough’s solo scene (in full throwback spirit, she is seen masturbating to a print magazine) and a love scene set in the flickering lights of a movie theater. Ultimately, it’s a movie notable more for its place in history than its effectiveness as a porn feature in 2022.

Snappy dialogue and characters with thoughts and agency? It’s a ’90s film alright, and the beginning is so innocuous you’d never suspect these scenes are leading unfiltered heavy sex, but as always, I’m glad they do! It’s almost like watching two films at once, do you want to follow the narrative or watch Nikki Tyler get her pussy and ass eaten out? It’s hard to keep track of both with so many characters banging, but all roads collide at the end when the depressed, washed up actor played by Jamie Gillis gets totally dominated by bombshell blonde Shanna McCullough. He’d had a rough go of it throughout the film, kidnapping women, getting beaten up, etc., but the whole time all he needed was a little femdom, and I think that’s the true message of the film: when you’re feeling down, get a strong woman strapped in leather to dog walk you face first into her pussy. A lesson for us all!

There is nothing like watching an old porno to really appreciate how far the industry has come over the years. Watching the opening scene I didn’t know what to expect. You see an alien-looking person riding in a red convertible – is this a porn movie or some intergalactic space movie? Make sure to keep watching, though! While this isn’t your typical porn movie featuring all sex all the time, there is hot action that’s mixed in to each scene. Plus this movie won six AVN awards including Best Film and Best Director in 1997. I enjoyed the scenes with Nikki Tyler and Steven St. Croix the most. You can really feel their chemistry and connection during the sex scenes. Just like the synopsis says – “Welcome to Anytown. Where nothing happens. And everything happens!” That pretty much sums up the film – you don’t know what to expect next. This is definitely a true ‘90s porn movie that deserves to be watched!

I personally enjoy the classics. Whether it’s an adult film or a regular film, there’s something about the nostalgia that makes the experience. And being a ‘90s kid, I love the film style! Starting off with the guy in that cheesy alien suit I could tell I would enjoy this title, although it took a few watch-throughs to fully digest the plot. Trying to drum up some interest in his latest movie, Jamie Gillis dresses as an alien and kidnaps Nikki Tyler, who is a perfect example of ‘90s fashion, I might add. Most of the sex scenes don’t seem to add much to the overall plotline, but man, are they steamy!
