Culturally speaking in Britain, what is the general attitude toward pornography?

Difficult question to answer. I think it’s very taboo over here. I don’t know about in the US, but I think very taboo very much. In England, people are very polite. They don’t talk about sex. They don’t talk about porn, things like that. And not very normalized. So yeah, it’s quite taboo and not something people open about like kinks, fetishes. Everything like that is just like, a big no, no, you don’t talk about it.

Was there any specific moment where it became absolutely clear to you that you wanted to be an adult performer?

I don’t know how the people listening will take this. But ever since high school, we have something in the UK called Page Three, which is a newspaper, has a topless woman in it every week. [Ever] since I was, like, 16, I wanted to be in it. I always just wanted to be. I don’t know! I’ve just always been really interested in the adult industry even since a really young age. So I’d say that’s the first time I was kind of interested. And I’m naturally an exhibitionist. And at parties, I’d always just end up naked for no reason. So it just seemed like a natural career for me. [I attended] all-Catholic school. And we had nuns at my school. So I used to get in a lot of trouble for saying things like that, obviously, at the time as well. [ . . .] There could be a bit that’s rebelling. My parents were very strict as well. So it could be that. I don’t know! For me, if it does feel like a choice and I want to do it. But there could definitely be an element of me that’s kind of pushing back against kind of my religious upbringing, but I’m enjoying it.

Talk about shooting with Vixen Media Group and working within their particular aesthetic.

Yeah, they’re the most strict that I’ve ever worked with. I don’t know if you can see but my nails, they have to be short. And like a French manicure. They’re really, really particular. And the wardrobe is unbelievable. Obviously, they travel all over Europe. And how they do it, I don’t know, but they take it with them. It’s like a whole shop of underwear and outfits and jewelry and shoes and sunglasses. I’ve never seen so many pairs of sunglasses in one place. Yeah, it’s unbelievable! [Their style is] glamorous and passion. Yeah, it’s definitely an experience like no other. It’s like how they say “how the other half lives.” That’s how it feels when you’re shooting for them. It’s just amazing. It’s like being on holiday.

Is your Brazzers co-star Danny D. as big as his reputation?

Bigger. I don’t know what the word would be. Like just nothing like I’d ever seen before. Or have seen since! I worked with Rocco Siffredi. And I’d say his is a similar with but Danny’s is just I don’t know. It’s just unbelievable. [ . . . ] So that shock was real. Like, genuinely, I was like, “Oh, and how am I going to do this?” I kind of had that moment of thought where I was like, “Wait, I don’t think I can do this. So I don’t know if I’m going to be able to do it.” But I did. And it was actually fine. I really enjoyed it. So I think it’s mind over matter sometimes. If you really put your mind to it, you can take any sized penis, so it was good.

Talk about working with Rocco Siffredi.

He’s so friendly and welcoming and funny. I really like to work with him. He’s very complimentary. Like sometimes you work with directors and producers and they’re just kind of silent and you’re like, “I don’t know if what I’m doing is a right or not.” But with him, he lets you know, like 100% if he likes it, or if he doesn’t. And I do I really like that about working with him. And like I say, it’s always a laugh. It’s always a bit cheesy and a bit funny.

Tell us about shooting your first anal scene for Tushy.

I would never have done it for another company. But obviously, Julia [Grandi] directs and shoots for Vixen Media Group in Europe. So I already knew I’d be working with a really great team, because her team’s amazing. And my agent from her agency kind of suggested it to me and said, you know, we think it’d be really good for your career. And obviously, I thought about it for a long time, but I wouldn’t really have trusted anyone else to direct it. And I’m so happy with how it came out. And yeah, very grateful that they had me for it. So it was really scary. It was really nerve racking. But I think from what I’ve heard, I handled it quite well. Like I’ve heard of girls crying during their first anal scenes, and there was none of that. I kind of breezed through it. So maybe I’m a natural. I don’t know!

What was one of your strangest porn shoots?

I have some weird scenes I’ve had to do. Yeah, actually, up until recently did a lot of virtual reality. And one of them was really weird. Obviously, it being in Europe was even weirder, because there’s a bit of a language barrier. So they drew a QR code on me about here [gestures to torso]. And the scene was that the guy scans the QR code, and then he can have sex with me. And it took hours to draw this QR code on me. And obviously, my fans were like, “Have you got a tattoo?” Because obviously on the camera, it looks like a tattoo. And I was like, no, no. And I was just thinking the whole time, “This is such a strange idea.”

How do you guard against fans falling in love with you?

I don’t draw that line at all. Obviously, coming from working on television in the UK, your fans really get to know you. I had a regular caller while I was on the television, called Nigel. And he was in his 80s and he’d ring me every night all night and he was obsessed, but in a respectful way. So I think as long as it’s not stalker-y, then it’s fine. But for me, like I tell my fans, I love them. I’m on OnlyFans. I’m always like, if someone buys a custom, at the end I’m like “Love you! Have a nice day!” Maybe I don’t draw a line enough. I don’t know. But for me, I let them know. I like to be genuine with them and I like to be friendly and treat them more like my favorite person. That’s because a lot of them are so, so amazing to me. So yeah, I don’t know. In England especially, there’s this culture of fans [being] seedy or disgusting, creepy, and I don’t see my [fans] like that at all, genuinely. I think I wouldn’t be here in this situation if it wasn’t for them. So I’m very grateful.

What is the hardest aspect of promoting yourself as a pornstar?

I guess, obviously, the rules and regulations on social media are difficult to navigate. Especially Instagram is difficult to promote yourself on there. Because obviously you’re at risk of getting deleted quite often. Which hasn’t happened to me so far. I’m very lucky. So I guess that’s quite difficult. But apart from that, I haven’t really faced many challenges with that. My agents are amazing. So I never struggled for work. So yeah, I think definitely restrictions on social media are a challenge.

Red pubic hair has become part of your trademark. Talk a little bit more about that!

When I worked in a strip club, I was shaved, obviously, all the time. I think actually a fan first suggested I should grow it out. And I thought okay, fine. And then the start it was really scary, kind of to go to a photoshoot, be nude and have it there because I was so embarrassed. I was like, “Oh, I don’t know if people are going to react badly to it.” But obviously, I’m glad I have it. And I think people have individual quirks or things that make them unique and I think they should be celebrated. So I’m kind of glad that obviously my fans embrace it so much.

Do you think society can ever get past some of its hang-ups about porn and sex?

It depends. I think if society were to move past it, it would be a very long time in the future. I don’t think it’s going to happen anytime soon. Like I say, I do think it’s based ultimately in religion. So I think obviously, whilst that’s still such a big part of people’s lives, I think there is still going to be a lot of sexual shame, and repression and stuff like that. So yeah, I can’t really say, but yeah, I don’t know. Maybe in the future, maybe one day everything will just be free and liberated. But we’ll have to wait and see.

Motivation in becoming an adult performer

Dallas

Was there any specific moment where it became absolutely clear to you that you wanted to be an adult performer?

Scarlett Jones

Dallas

Is there any part of you that thinks that the background in the Catholic school — that part of you is rebelling against that? Or do you not get into the psychology of that at all?

Scarlett

I didn’t know. Yeah, of course, I’ve gotten into the psychology before. I don’t know! Yeah, obviously, there could be a bit that’s rebelling. My parents were very strict as well. So it could be that. I don’t know! For me, if it does feel like a choice and I want to do it. But there could definitely be an element of me that’s kind of pushing back against kind of my religious upbringing, but I’m enjoying it.

Britain’s attitude toward pornography and sex

Dallas

Culturally speaking in Britain, what is the general attitude toward pornography?

Scarlett

Difficult question to answer. I think it’s very taboo over here. I don’t know about in the US, but I think very taboo very much. In England, people are very polite. They don’t talk about sex. They don’t talk about porn, things like that. And not very normalized. So yeah, it’s quite taboo and not something people open about like kinks, fetishes. Everything like that is just like, a big no, no, you don’t talk about it.

Dallas

My impression is, at least in the United States, you don’t have to push very far to find those kinds of kinks. The naughty side isn’t that buried under the surface. Is it the same in Britain?

Scarlett

In Britain, I don’t know if you know, but I used to appear on television channel, which was called Babestation. So that in particular, you don’t have to go through television channels very far to find — which is like a call center type thing, but the women on it are naked, answering the phone and having dirty talk and stuff. So I do think it’s bad, but I think there’s a lot of shame associated with it. And I think for a lot of people, it’s quite repressed and you’re not allowed to talk about this kind of stuff. So it’s kind of secretive, if that makes sense.

Exotic dancer / background in law

Dallas

Sure. So as I understand it, you started out as a as a dancer, right, as a stripper, basically. Right?

Scarlett

Yes, yeah, that’s correct. Yeah. I think in England, it’s a bit different to America. It’s not so glamorous over here. You don’t get paid as much either. So it’s not quite the same, but I did really enjoy it.

Dallas

And you also were studying law at that time, right?

Scarlett
Yes. So I finished my law degree. So I could practice if I wanted to, but obviously didn’t want to. I just I enjoy having it on camera far too much.

Dallas
Do you think at any point — let me put it this way — are there any strange ways that your background in law has come to bear on your current career, or overlapped?

Scarlett

That’s interesting. Yeah, I think in a few little ways. I studied contract law when I was at university, so obviously having contracts and stuff, it’s interesting, because some of them have specific terminology that other people might not realize or things like that. So yeah, I think in that way, maybe it’s helpful, but overall, it’s just a lot of student debt. That I regret.

Dallas

Right, right, I think all university students the world around can identify with that unfortunate reality. So that is the case, then, in Britain, that people have to assume a lot of student debt, because of course, in the United States, that’s the case. I wasn’t sure if it was exactly the same in Europe and Britain.

Scarlett

So in Britain until the year before I started, it was I think, 3000 pounds a year, which is not an insane amount, but it went up to about nine when I started and then obviously you have accommodation. So yeah, if you go to university in the UK, it’s about 40,000. But we have loans, so you don’t have to pay it until you start a full-time job. So there’s that, but it’s very expensive.

First scene

Dallas

Now, is it true that for your very first adult shoot the first time round, you got a little bit nervous and decided not to do it?

Scarlett

No, oh, no, not 100%. My agent, Julia Grandi, we had organized for me to shoot for one of the companies she directs for about a week before. It was really short notice. And then about a week before I just couldn’t do it. I’d only ever had two sexual partners in my life. And I was just terrified. So I had to cancel, which obviously now I really regret because I’d love to have done it. And that’d be my debut. But yeah, I was really nervous. But then a few months later, I did go out to Budapest and shoot and the rest is history. But yeah, it was too nervous. It was just so intimidating. Going into a different country and having sex with a stranger at the time I was just not ready.

Pornstar stereotypes

Dallas

So that’s interesting! You mentioned that you only had two partners, which plays somewhat in contrast to the image I think some people have of pornstars where they’re these wildly experienced sexual people even before they get into pornography. On one hand, are there other ways that you think that you were contrary to the sort of typical image that people have of pornstars? And are there ways where you think, “Yeah, I kind of match up to what people might imagine a pornstar to be”?

Scarlett

In terms of like stereotypes and stuff, I think obviously, all pornstars are individual humans and whatever stereotypes people have are usually based on fantasy, fetishization or fantasy and aren’t very often real. So I think I’m just normal person. I have my cat and my granddad and that’s about it. So I live quite a boring life outside of porn. So I guess people think porn is you know, sex, drugs, rock and roll. But for me, it’s not so much. Not at all apart from sex. So obviously, I don’t fit that stereotype, but in a way which I do, I don’t really know. I don’t know. To be honest, I’ve never really spoken to people about their opinions of pornstars. So I’m not sure what the stereotypes necessarily are. I guess obviously, there’s bad stereotypes about loads of things, but I don’t know. It’s a hard one to answer.

Dallas
Definitely, definitely. Well, I know some pornstars on social media and things like that, they’ll get get pushback from fans, or not even really fans, from certain people who will say, “Hey, you know, you’re putting yourself out here in this way.” And that’s the way that they’ll hear some of those cliche things that people think about pornstars that they are have some sort of moral issues or something like that.

Scarlett
Yeah, I do get what you’re saying. [What those fans are saying] is completely incorrect. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with people having one- night stands or being promiscuous. So the fact that I get paid for it does seem to annoy people. Once you involve money, then it’s morally corrupt. Which is interesting, you know, obviously, and I don’t agree, but a lot of people do agree with that. So I do believe it comes down to religion, obviously, and the idea of morals and sex before marriage and what have you. Especially coming from religious background, I do understand a lot of people still feel that way, especially here in the UK. That you should wait till marriage and then have children and then only have sex to have children, which is crazy.

Porn and society

Dallas

Do you think society can ever get past that? Or are we always going to have certain sexual hang-ups, do you think?

Scarlett

Shooting porn in Europe and the United Kingdom

Dallas

You mentioned, of course, shooting in mainland Europe and, what, Hungary? You said Budapest?

Scarlett

Yes, yes, mainly I shoot there, but I’ve covered all over.

Dallas

Is there much of a porn industry in Great Britain itself? I know there are a couple of labels that I know are at least theoretically British, but do they have much of a presence there?

Scarlett

Literally it’s — I don’t want to say terrible. But in England, there’s no real work for me anyway. Brazzers, they shoot in the UK, with Danny D, which is amazing. But apart from Mindgeek, as far as I’m aware, it’s a lot of smaller productions. And a lot of them do have a really dodgy reputation. So they’ll try and pay less for instance, from what I’ve heard. And a lot of them don’t test correctly. So yeah, it’s a really different, really different to professional porn in England. There’s not really a culture for it at all. In England, OnlyFans is a lot more of a thing, I think.

Shooting for Brazzers

Dallas

You mentioned shooting for Brazzers. What was your very first Brazzers shoot? And could you tell us a little bit about that?

Scarlett

Yeah. Of course, yeah. My first was with Danny. I think it was actually like my third or fourth shoot ever, that I shot with him. So I was bit intimidated, obviously, because it’s about as big as my arm. So a bit scary. But I loved it. It was really good. Obviously, he’s an amazing performer and he’s really easy to get along with. And it was my first time working with an all English-speaking production, which obviously, being a new performer is helpful because you can understand what they want. So it was a really great experience. I loved it. I was playing like an 18-year-old babysitter, like bratty and stuff. So it was really fun. I really enjoyed it. And I’ve done another shoot with him since. which I’m hoping will come out soon.

Danny D: as big as his reputation?

Dallas

So he really is as big as he seems?

Scarlett

Bigger. I don’t know what the word would be. Like just nothing like I’d ever seen before. Or have seen since I say I worked with Rocco Siffredi. And I’d say his is a similar with but Danny’s is just I don’t know. It’s just unbelievable.

Dallas

So in that scene, which I’ve seen excerpts of, of course, there’s a moment where you unbuckle his pants and his erection is revealed. And, of course, you have a shocked reaction. So was that the first time that you had seen the full extent of him?

Scarlett

Yeah, it was it actually was, yeah. So that shock was real. If you really put your mind to it, you can take any sized penis so it was good.

Pornstar penis size

Dallas

Right, because I think I’ve heard you say that you had an expectation coming into porn that all of the men would be just enormous and that’s not necessarily the case. Correct?

Scarlett
No, not at all. Like, obviously only having two sexual partners that weren’t in porn, it’s hard to compare, to be honest. But you know, I’ve worked with a lot of performers that are just like all that. Yeah, obviously, it’s different experiences, I guess. But it’ll be fun even if they’re a little bit smaller. I still enjoy it.

Porn scripts and scenarios

Dallas

So in a scene like the ones you do for Brazzers were there was a character, like you mentioned — do you have to work from a script? Or do you just improvise based on a set scenario?

Scarlett

Usually for Brazzers, for instance, or like Vixen Media Group, there’s a script. But some of my favorite scenes and when it’s unscripted, especially in Europe, like I mentioned, Rocco. When I work with him, it’s hilarious. Obviously, I speak fluent English and not many people [on those sets] do. So he makes me speak and do the most ridiculous scenarios. I have to make up whatever I want to say. So I love it. I really like that as well. So and also learning a script sometimes is like intimidating or you forget them. Being able to improvise is good in my opinion.

Shooting with Rocco Siffredi

Dallas

So let’s delve into the Rocco Siffredi scene a little bit. First of all, tell us, how did that come about?

Scarlett

Which one in particular? I’ve shot seven for him, I think.

Dallas

Okay, so you’ve sought shot several scenes with Rocco [and several scenes for his label]. So the one with him I guess is what it is what I mean, yeah!

Scarlett

Yeah, that’s coming out, I think the 16th of this month [April 2022], so that’s exciting. Yeah, it was, like, — I don’t know. I guess before I worked with him or for him, I didn’t know his reputation. Because obviously in the UK, we in the UK consume American porn as far as I’m aware, we don’t tend to consume European stuff. So I don’t want to sound bad. I didn’t really know who he was. I didn’t know his reputation. So I shot with him. And then fans afterward were saying to me, “Are you okay? He’s really rough.” And I was like, “I didn’t really think so.” I had a good time. So, yeah, I loved it. It was really good fun. And I’m excited to see it so.

Dallas

I’ve heard a lot of pornstars say that he has just this sort of instant charisma and presence that you sense as soon as you enter the room. Did you find that to be the case?

Scarlett

Yeah, I guess! With me, definitely he’s so friendly and welcoming and funny. And like I say, I really like to work with him. He’s very complimentary. Like sometimes you work with directors and producers and they’re just kind of silent and you’re like, I don’t know if what I’m doing is a right or not. But with him, he lets you know, like 100% if he likes it, or if he doesn’t. And I do I really like that about working with him. And like I say, it’s always a laugh. It’s always a bit cheesy and a bit funny.

British sarcasm in porn movies

Dallas

You mentioned that in that you speak fluent English, that makes you a somewhat of a rarity in the context of the porn that you’re shooting in Hungary and so forth.

Scarlett

Yeah, obviously a lot of people do also speak fluent English. But I think sometimes like, you know, like sarcasm and stuff, I think it takes an English person to deliver it properly. So I do enjoy doing that — the more like bratty stuff and yeah, stuff like that I really enjoy. So it’s definitely a positive to be able to speak English, but I’m really jealous because obviously most European performance can speak their native language English and perhaps Spanish or French or Italian, so I feel very uneducated in comparison. I only speak in English properly.

Dallas

You mentioned an affinity for sarcasm or delivering sarcastic lines that the British might have. Has there been any scene or scenario where you were particularly able to to project that particular trait?

Scarlett

Yeah, definitely. I did a scene for Rocco actually recently. And it was a role reversal. You know, a typical male gets a female employee into the room and he’s like, “If you want a raise, you’re going to do what I want.” I had to be that person. I was with Jack the Ripper, actually. And I had to say to him, “Come on, take your clothes off. You don’t want to be boring.” Like that kind of stuff. So I really enjoy that. Being able to act a bit more I really enjoy acting in the scenes so it was a good experience for that obviously as well. And being sarcastic and bitchy!

Parody roles in porn

Dallas

Now, obviously, in porn, there are frequently — perhaps less so these days, but certainly they still exist — parodies of mainstream properties and things like that. Is there any franchise with a particular character that you look at it and think, “Wow, I would love to play that particular character in a porn version of that.”

Scarlett
Yeah, that’s such a good question. Oh, my God. No, I can’t! No, I was going to say something but actually, it might sound really bad. [Laughs] Maybe a member of loyalty would be really funny to parody. Like a member of the British Monarchy maybe would be fun. I don’t know. But apart from that, obviously for my OnlyFans I’ve done cosplay. I’ve done Katy Perry. And I’ve done obviously Black Widow and some Game of Thrones cast members as well. So I’ve done that kind of stuff, but that’s really a good question. I don’t know. I have to think on it if I have any new ideas. Yeah, I don’t know. Just trying to think. Obviously, there’s so many opportunities for parodies and stuff. I just feel like a lot of them have been done before. Like a lot of Marvel and DC stuff has already been done, hasn’t it?

Coming to America?

Dallas

I think there have been some some parodies of the royal family. Maybe a Television X one or something like that. It was exceedingly corny but but fun. A couple of couple of Black Widow ones including the one here that you mentioned for sure. So obviously a ton of pornography is produced in the United States. I assume you haven’t done any shoots or anything like that in the USA thus far, have you?

Scarlett
No, unfortunately not. It would be very illegal if I did so I’m not I’m not about to risk that. I would love to one day. I’m working on getting my visa to work in America, but it’s not so easy so it’s going to take me a little while. But I’m hoping that eventually I can come out and work in America. It’d be amazing.

Dallas

Are there any studios or American stars or directors that you think “Wow, I would really love to collaborate with them”?

Scarlett

Literally everybody! Like for me, if you can understand, obviously, Europe’s one thing and it’s amazing. And obviously particularly Julia Grande [of Vixen Media Group], working with her is another level of excellence, I guess. But the stuff in America just looks insane. Like the production value of some of the stuff — so obviously, I’d really like to work for Mindgeek, Vixen Media Group, Jules Jordan. There’s so many. Like in terms of stars, I want to work with so many people. Like Lacy Lennon messaged me on Twitter. And I was just starstruck, I was like, “Oh, my God. Yeah, I’d love to work with you. That’d be amazing.” So hopefully one day we can work together.

Dallas

Right? That would be a pretty intense redhead type scene, I would think.

Scarlett

Yeah, we both have ginger bushes as well. I think that’s quite rare to get two together in a scene. So that would be amazing, obviously. And I’d really love to work with Blake Blossom as well. And there’s just so many amazing performers in America.

First anal scene

Dallas

You mentioned vixen Media Group, which of course you have shot a few scenes for them in Europe. I think you even shot your first anal scene for tushy, is that correct? So I think you said at one point you didn’t think you would ever do an anal scene, but then of course you did end up doing one, so tell us a little bit about about your journey from thinking you wouldn’t to eventually doing it.

Scarlett

Yeah, that is correct. Well, obviously, I would never have done it for another company. But obviously, Julia directs and shoots for Vixen Media Group in in Europe.

Dallas

Was it another instance of that mind-over-matter thing that you mentioned earlier?

Scarlett

Yeah, definitely, you just have to kind of let go. And especially with anal, I’d never done it before in my life before that. I was literally an anal virgin, apart from toys and stuff. So it was yeah, it was really scary. But like I say, the team were amazing. So I felt very comfortable and everything. I was with a really good performer as well. So everything went really well.

Dallas

So that’s interesting, too. That scene was a first in every sense, then, which is not always the case. You’ll often hear a lot of pornstars, they do anal in their private life, but they just don’t want to do it on camera and then there’s that first on camera angle, but yours was first on camera first, full stop.

Scarlett
Yeah, 100%! That’s why I was so nervous, obviously. And I said to my agent, I said, “I’ve literally never done it before in my life. Are you sure that that’s going to be okay?” And she was like, “Yes, we will tell you everything you need to know.” And I was like, Okay”, then let’s do it.” And obviously, they flew me out to Italy, and I shot a few scenes out there. And it was amazing.

Dallas

Did you have to do — I mean, and you don’t have to get into the gory details if you don’t want to — but did you have to do a certain amount of prep or that kind of thing?

Scarlett

Yeah, but I’ve always been very lucky. Like even using for OnlyFans, for instance, like toys and stuff. I actually spoke to a performer before that I know does anal quite a lot before my scene and I said kind of like, “Do you have any tips?” And she kind of scared me. She was like, “It takes me two to three hours to prep.” She was like, be prepared. And I was like, “Oh, my god.” So practice at home and I was like, “Okay, well, that took like five minutes.” And then for me so far, it’s been like a five-minute job. So I’m very lucky so far. I actually have an anal scene next week when I go out to Budapest. So hopefully my luck continues, but I personally didn’t find it laborious at all. So I actually enjoyed doing the anal scenes. So I’m looking forward to doing more.

Working with director Julia Grandi

Dallas

You mentioned Julia Grandi as director there. What is she like as a director?

Scarlett

Amazing. I don’t know how to describe it. But when I first met her, obviously, and even a few times after I was really intimidated, and I’ve never felt that way before about a director, because I just kind of felt like my whole career kind of rests with this woman. So I just need to make a good impression. So I felt intimidated. But in reality, actually, she’s really laid back. She’s really nice. And I don’t know, she’s a lot more laid back than I thought she would be, actually — that’s one word I’d use to describe her. And also quite funny. She has funny stories actually, about her time as a performer that I enjoy.

Weirdest scenes: the QR code

Dallas

On that same topic, what is your funniest story as a performer — a blooper and amusing anecdote? Something like that?

Scarlett

Do you know, I don’t know that I really have many. Let me think. I have some weird scenes I’ve had to do. Yeah, actually, up until recently did a lot of virtual reality. And one of them was really weird. Obviously, it being in in Europe was even weirder, because there’s a bit of a language barrier. So they drew a QR code on me about here [gestures to torso]. And the scene was that the guy scans the QR code, and then he can have sex with me. And it took hours to draw this QR code on me. And obviously, my fans were like, “Have you got a tattoo?” Because obviously on the camera looks like a tattoo. And I was like, no, no. And I was just thinking the whole time, “This is such a strange idea.” I don’t know. I don’t really have any bloopers or anything funny that’s kind of happened or gone wrong, that I can think of. I don’t know how many students I’ve done. I probably did about 40 to 50 scenes. So I’m doing well. Most of my students have been really good. And I’ve really enjoyed them. So I guess it’s a good thing.

Workflow

Dallas

So those 40 to 50 scenes. Have those been shot over the past two years? I remember you saying you started mid to 2020 in terms of your studio stuff.

Scarlett

I started in December 2020. So I’ve been doing about a year and a few months. So yeah, only over that time. But obviously, I don’t work in England. So I only work when I go out to Budapest for about a week at a time. So sometimes I have to do two scenes in one day and stuff like that to kind of fit it all in. And it’s really difficult as well because I always get booked up by the same people. So I never get the chance to work with some studios because my dates are all gone immediately. So yeah, it would be nice to go out there for a longer time, but I’ve got my cat and my granddad to look after so I can’t be away for too long.

Dallas

What’s the name of your cat?

Scarlett

Her name is Duchess. She’s actually on the floor just behind there.

Dallas

How long have you had her?

Scarlett

About three years or so, so yeah, she’s very nice. She’s always in my videos by accident. So I have to be careful what I post on my OnlyFans or I might risk getting my account deleted for bestiality just because she’s in the video, you know. It’s it’s a bit of a risk. So yeah, she likes to be around me whilst I’m doing anything.

Working for Vixen Media Group

Dallas

You were talking about working for several Vixen Media Group labels there, Tushy being one. I think you’ve also have a scene dropping for the actual just plain old Vixen label. All of those labels have a very distinctive aesthetic, very glamorous, very posh. When you’re on set does that come through? Do they have a certain wardrobe that they want you to wear? Do they have a certain approach to makeup that you have to adhere to, things like that?

Scarlett

Yeah, they’re the most strict that I’ve ever worked with. I don’t know if you can see but my nails, they have to be short. And like a French manicure. They’re really really particular. And the wardrobe is unbelievable. Like, obviously they travel all over Europe. And how they do it, I don’t know, but they take it with them. It’s like a whole shop of underwear and outfits and jewelry and shoes and sunglasses. I’ve never seen so many pairs of sunglasses in one place. Yeah, it’s unbelievable. Yeah, I know you said obviously like glamorous and passion. Yeah, it’s definitely an experience like no other. It’s like how they say like how the other half lives. That’s how it feels when you’re shooting for them. It’s just amazing. Yeah, it’s like being on holiday.

Dallas
Because there’s a whole lifestyle almost associated with that branded, there’s the sex, but then they aesthetically there’s always that aspect of a certain lifestyle, a certain high-key lifestyle, that’s embedded in there, too. That’s quite interesting.

Scarlett
Definitely! My Vixen scene that came out recently — actually, Friday, so a few days ago. [Editor’s note: Interview recorded April 2022.] The story was that I was going on a honeymoon on my own, but I was staying in this mansion. So I was clearly meant to be a very rich character. And yeah, it’s definitely very classy. But obviously, some of the other stuff I’ve done in Budapest is the polar opposite. So I do like to play all roles, to be honest, because for me, sometimes it’s the most fun to do something completely different. And unexpected. So I enjoy all kinds of it, really.

Dallas

So when you say the polar opposite, do you mean something that’s very gritty and almost improvisational, that kind of thing?

Scarlett

Yeah, I guess! Also, I don’t know what the opposite would be, I guess. The thing I actually like about working with Julia working for Vixen is they never do anything really inappropriate. So I have done some scenes, which now I look back on, and I’m like, I don’t know how I’m going to feel about that in a few years. For instance, like taboo kind of stuff, like stepdad kind of stuff. When I had I had to pretend I was scared. Or I had to be like, “No!” Things like that are a bit kind of taboo. So that’s the opposite for me of Vixen, like Vixen’s consensual and it’s a “you want to be there and you’re happy to be there.”

Other genres she’d like to shoot

Dallas

You were course talking about your anal scene. Is there any other particular genre that you don’t want to do right now but you think eventually you want to take the plunge and do a gangbang or whatever it may be?

Scarlett

I don’t know. I don’t know. Maybe eventually, obviously, depending on where my career goes, and for the right company, because I know they do really hardcore stuff in Budapest, loads of crazy stuff. And if you’ve heard of Legal Porno in America — yeah, stuff like that, I would never do. Just because my fans hate it. And my fans wouldn’t enjoy watching it. So maybe one day. And so many people are messaging me saying I should do double penetration. Obviously, no, I’m nowhere near ready for that. Maybe one day though, I guess. And the Blacked gangbangs look really good as well, actually. So maybe one day in the future but no time soon.

Do fans ever fall in love?

Dallas

Right. It’s a question of right time, right place, right company. like you were saying. You did a very interesting interview recently on the LustCast podcast. And the host of that said something interesting that I wanted to follow up on. He said that if your fans fall in love with you, that’s how you explode. He’s talking about the connection that you forged with fans you or anyone, really. So how do you walk that line of creating that relationship with fans where they “fall in love” with you but also making sure that they don’t actually fall in love with you or take things too far?

Scarlett

I don’t know. I don’t draw that line at all. Obviously, coming from working on television in the UK, your fans really get to know you. I had a regular caller while I was on the television, called Nigel. And he was in his 80s and he’d ring me every night all night and he was obsessed, but in a respectful way. So I think as long as I’ve as long as it’s not stalker-y then it’s fine. But for me, like I tell my fans, I love them. I’m on OnlyFans. I’m always like, if someone buys a custom, at the end I’m like “Love you! Have a nice day.” Maybe I don’t draw a line enough. I don’t know. But for me, I let them know. I like to be genuine with them and I like to be friendly and treat them more like my favorite person. That’s because a lot of them are so, so amazing to me. So yeah, I don’t know. In England especially, there’s this culture of fans like seedy or disgusting, creepy, and I don’t see my [fans] like that at all, genuinely. I think I wouldn’t be here in this situation if it wasn’t for them. So I’m very grateful.

Most touching interaction with a fan

Dallas
Yeah, there does seem to be this perception, erroneous generally I think, that the interactions between pornstars and their fans — the fans are always going to be sort of weirdos, like you said, or something like that. But often there is something much more much more really heartwarming, more like a you know, a great friendship. Do you have any do any stories come to mind that were a particularly a particularly heartwarming interaction, for lack of a better word?

Scarlett
Oh, my god, yes, I have so many. I’m so lucky. The fans I have — I have a core of maybe about 500 fans that will never unsubscribe from my OnlyFans. They will message me. They’ll tip me. They’ll just be there all the time. And it’s amazing. But I did a live show recently, and my cat was in the background, obviously. And afterwards, one of my fans messaged me and he was telling me this awful story, but we really like connected over it, about his cat and how it was ill in the vet. And it was really sad. And he sent me a photo of his cat and then he recommended some cat toys on Amazon to get for Duchess and really nice stuff like that. Just genuine human interaction. I guess it’s not all sex and it’s not all dirty talk. Some of it is genuine.

The demands of social media

Dallas

Do you ever find the responsibilities of managing all your social media accounts exhausting? Or do you just run with that and enjoy it for the most part?

Scarlett

Yeah, I’m fine with it. I don’t find it time consuming. For me, I just post once a day on Twitter and Instagram about like 6 p.m. UK time and that’s it. So for me it’s easy. I don’t find it time consuming, I guess. It’s just OnlyFans that does take a bit of time.

First porn experiences

Dallas

Do you remember the very first pornography that you ever saw?

Scarlett

Oh, such a good question. I don’t know. I mean, I don’t think so. Because it doesn’t come to mind. I guess the first pornography technically would be — in England, as I mentioned earlier, we have something where it’s like a topless magazine. It’s probably something like that I probably saw first and that inspired me obviously. In terms of video, I didn’t have a mobile phone till I was 17. I wasn’t allowed one. And I don’t think I watched any pornography on it when I did because my parents checked my search history. So I don’t remember. It’s hard to remember.

Dallas

So that’s interesting. So your adolescence was a little bit more of a throwback to an earlier era where those materials were not so instantly accessible. Because that’s the cliche about people under 30 these days that they were seeing porn from you know, age 12 or something like that.

Scarlett

No, I definitely wasn’t at all. No, I was going to church going to church every Sunday. But I still ended up in porn. So I think if someone wants to do it, they’re going to do it and you can’t really stop them no matter how protective you are.

Preferred porn genres

Dallas
So once you were exposed to pornography, what what kind did you like, if you watched any at all? And on the other end of, what is as the type that you watched now? Is it changed any versus prior?

Scarlett
It really would be really difficult, I think, to find something that I didn’t know the person that was in it. Especially — I guess it depends — like you see on Twitter all the time, you know this kind of stuff. And it’s always someone I know, someone I’ve worked with, so it’s kind of like . . .  I don’t know. It’s just weird. But I really like to watch certain stuff, like obviously certain pornstars that I really admire. Because obviously their stuff’s amazing so I’m like, “Wow!” And it’s educational for me as well because I get to learn new stuff and maybe incorporate into my work as well. But I think my favorite scenes to watch is probably just girl/girl, which is a bit boring, but I don’t have any fetishes or kinks.

Dallas

Who are some of those pornstars that you particularly admire?

Scarlett

So many! Obviously, in Europe, Jia LIssa, I’ve always thought she’s amazing. And I love her performances as well. Everything in America, like literally probably anybody. I mean like Vanna Bardot. I think her seems really good. And Adriana [Chechik] obviously as well and Emily Willis. And then obviously, like I’ve said Lacey Lennon and Blake Blossom as well. So definitely mainly women. It’s not that I don’t like guys, but I just find in terms of porn, I just think the focus is always on the women, isn’t it? So I just kind of get watch them mostly, if that makes sense.

Dallas

Do you ever see yourself branching out into directing or producing?

Scarlett

It’s not something I’ve considered. I was shooting a television program in England recently, like a documentary. And for the purposes I had to kind of be a director in a porn shoot kind of thing. I don’t know. For me, it’s kind of difficult to come up with scenarios. Maybe I need to think about it more, but maybe. Maybe one day. I think obviously a lot of performers do end up directing. For me, what I’d like to do the most probably would be to do more acting, like maybe more mainstream kind of stuff. But I know it’s very difficult and especially doing porn is unlikely, but I just really like the acting side of it.

Talk nerdy: Legos, videos games, and more

Dallas
A lot of pornstars have said that they have a secret “nerdy” side. They have interests that will be called, termed by some people nerdy? Do you have a secret nerdy side?

Scarlett
I don’t know! I guess, yeah. In my living room downstairs, I have the Lego Simpsons house. You know, I like Lego. Like, I’ve got like, just here, like real dinosaur Lego. I like video games, I guess, theme parks, that kind of stuff. I’m going to Disney in about two weeks from now. So I’m really excited. And my favorite video game is Resident Evil 4. I have a Nintendo Switch as well, which I play, so yeah, I guess nerdy stuff. But it’s fun stuff, really, isn’t it? It’s not nerdy. It’s just fun. Yeah. [Laughs]

Dallas

You mentioned going to Disney soon. Did you grow up watching Disney movies, Disney programs, Disney shows?

Scarlett

Yeah. Actually, no, I wasn’t allowed because of the religious thing. So no, actually, I didn’t really watch a lot of Disney stuff. I watch The Simpsons a lot. And like children’s television in England. So yeah, watch that kind of stuff. I also watched The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, strangely, when I was very young. But yeah, no, I don’t know. I don’t like Disney [as in] “Oh, I love Disney princesses.” No, I just like the rides. I like roller coasters. So that’s why.

Dallas

Given how rebellious Bart Simpson is, I’m kind of surprised your parents let that one pass.

Scarlett

Yeah, I know! When I was at church, actually, you know, the game Simpsons Hit and Run? Me and my sister had it on PlayStation. And my mom was talking to someone at church and they said we shouldn’t be allowed it so she took it off us. So yeah!

Dallas

So when it comes to amusement parks, roller coasters, are your favorite or what would be your favorite?

Scarlett

Definitely, I’ve been to Florida, you know, to Universal. I’ve been there twice in my life now. And in the UK, we have a few theme parks, which I really enjoy as well. And like I’m hoping to go to LA you know, obviously, if I get to work in LA and stuff and live there. I definitely have an annual pass for Disney and universal. I’d been there all the time.

Dallas

So which would you say is more thrilling, really great sex, or a really thrilling roller coaster with all the corkscrews and whatnot?

Scarlett

I think sex. Sex usually lasts a lot longer. But yeah, I don’t know. For me the answer is that obviously. It is that every time.

Podcasts she listens to

Dallas

So this, of course, is a podcast, so I wanted to ask, do you yourself listen to any podcasts? Are you a podcast fan in general?

Scarlett
I have listened to them in the past. Yeah. I don’t know if you heard of someone called Shaun T. He’s a personal trainer, American guy. And I used to listen to his podcast a while ago, but I’ve not actually had the time. I’ve been so busy traveling recently. I haven’t had the time to just kind of sit down and listen, but I do enjoy listening to them. Yeah. Better than the radio in my opinion. Definitely.

Travel spots

Dallas
You get more depth in them. They aren’t as limited. For sure. You were mentioned travel there. What are some of your favorite travel spots? To travel I would never have gone I wouldn’t get that experience

Scarlett
Do you know — all the travel spots I’ve been to, they’re for work. They’re all places I’ve been flown out to that I would never have gone otherwise. I recently went to the Dominican Republic, which I would never have gone to or thought to go to, but it was incredible. Same obviously for Greece and Italy. I’ve been to Florence and Tuscany, which I would never have gone to before Lanzarote. I went to Barcelona, Paris. I wouldn’t go there on holiday, but I’ve experienced it, which is amazing. So that’s why I just obviously — the job’s amazing to be able to do those kinds of things.

Articles in The Daily Star

Dallas

You had two fairly high profile articles that appeared in The Daily Star. How did those come about? Did they just happen? Or were they with the participation of you? And did you get a lot of feedback from fans about those two. Did they increase your profile?

Scarlett

I think the first one was because of the podcast that you’ve mentioned already for the Lustcast. And the other one, I had someone from the newspaper ring me up and kind of interview me a little bit of like 10 minutes or so. One of them, the feedback was really good. And I got a lot of Instagram followers from it. It was one about how my parents didn’t come to my graduation, when I finished university. And people felt really sorry for me. And I’ve never thought about before. I’ve kind of just said, “Yeah, my parents don’t like me” and laughed it off. But people actually really felt bad for me, which was strange. So that was very positive. People have been really nice about that. So that’s amazing. But the first one that came out was kind of money focused. And it was like, I bought my first house and whatever. And obviously, that was negative because it comes across as kind of bragging which I don’t like so yeah, swings and roundabouts.

Born in the wrong era?

Scarlett

Do you ever wish that you had come into porn in a different era? Do you think, “Oh, gosh, I would have loved to have been a porn star in the 1970s or the 80s or the 90s or even the early 2000s,” something like that.

Scarlett

I don’t know! I mean, I would say yes. But I feel like in terms of testing and STIs, and performance safety and consent, I feel like right now is one of the best times because obviously, a lot of those kind of things are taken really seriously, which I’m not so sure they were in those days. I can’t really say. I’m only in my early 20s. So I can’t say, but I feel like now’s a good time to be in it. I’ve heard obviously that the money was different in back in the day. But I don’t know. It’s hard to say maybe. I’m just glad to be in it now. And I’m glad now. I wish I’d started early, obviously.

The art of promotion

Dallas

What is the hardest aspect of promoting yourself as a pornstar?

Scarlett

I guess, obviously, the rules and regulations on social media are difficult to navigate. Especially Instagram is difficult to promote yourself on there. Because obviously you’re at risk of getting deleted quite often. Which hasn’t happened to me so far. I’m very lucky. So I guess that’s quite difficult. But apart from that, I haven’t really faced many challenges with that. My agents are amazing. So I never struggled for work. So yeah, I think definitely restrictions on social media are a challenge.

The redhead mystique

Dallas

Has there ever been an instance where you were surprised by the reaction that people had to a scene you shot or a photo you took or something like that? That it was just something you did and you didn’t really think much of it in the moment, but then it really really people really responded to it in some way that kind of caught you off guard — positively or negatively, really?

Scarlett

Actually, yes, when I first started in the industry at all, like photography or anything like that, because I did nude modeling for a long time as well — one thing that I was really surprised by was how photographers and fans really like my hair color. And as well like my bush being orange. That’s always surprised me. I was shocked because obviously all my friends my age were completely shaved. And it’s a big thing to be waxed and hairless. So I was really surprised positively that people seem to love it so much. And I was shocked. So that was definitely positive.

Dallas

So how did you come to the decision not to go with a vogue there. Was it because you had the red hair and that kind of set you apart with the red bush, as you were saying?

Scarlett

I think so. And obviously, when I worked in a strip club, I was shaved, obviously, all the time. I think actually a fan first suggested I should grow it out. And I thought okay, fine. And then the start it was really scary, kind of to go to a photo, shoot, be nude and have it there because I was so embarrassed. I was like, Oh, I don’t know if people are going to react badly to it. But obviously, I’m glad I have it. And I think people have individual quirks or things that make them unique and I think they should be celebrated. So I’m kind of glad that obviously my fans embrace it so much.

Dallas

What do you make of the whole idea of the redhead mystique? There’s this idea that people who have red hair have certain characteristics, whether they’re passionate or fiery — do you think there’s anything to that? Or do you think that’s just kind of kind of something that’s trumped up and not that accurate?

Scarlett

Don’t know! It’s obviously it’s a bit of a stereotype. Yeah, people do describe me as fiery and redhead runs in my family. My mom is definitely very fiery. So maybe there’s something in that. I don’t know. I’ve read things like before where they say really random stuff about redheads like we’re more sensitive to temperature change. Which is strange when I don’t know and things like that, so I don’t know — I think maybe more of a stereotype, but I people always say to me as well on my OnlyFans, “I bet you’re so good in bed. Redheads are the craziest in bed.” And I don’t know if that’s true or not. Maybe you know more than I do. I’ve not really I’ve not slept with a redhead man in my life, so I can’t say.

Dallas
Well, in terms of porn, I think that some stars do kind of lean into that, but whether that’s like actually their real personality or they’re just seeing that as as a good marketing angle, I don’t know. It’s an interesting question, isn’t it? Yeah.

Scarlett
Yeah, definitely. I don’t know. It’s strange. I don’t know.

Adult Empire’s 25th anniversary

Dallas

So interestingly, adult Empire is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. Crazy! So I wanted to ask, do you ever think 25 years into the future? Do you ever imagine where you might be then or where you’d like to be 25 years from now?

Scarlett

Now that’s a long time. I’m 25 actually as well. So, yeah, I’d be 50. I don’t know! Sometimes I think about it. And it’s hard to imagine, though, because it’s such a long time away. Yeah, I just want to do good things, not just in porn, obviously. I would really like to do charity stuff and raise money for charity and make a positive change with obviously the money I’ve made from porn. I’d really like to do that and just be happy and help other people be happy as well.

Causes she’s passionate about

Dallas

is there any particular cause that you’re highly passionate about?

Scarlett

Yes, yeah, there’s a few. The main three — obviously, homelessness, I think that’s something I’m really passionate about. Also animal safety and animal welfare, and also helping the elderly. In the UK, especially, it’s like, obviously, when people retire and get older, they’re just kind of forgotten. I think it’s terrible. And obviously, having a lot of older fans and I mentioned Nigel, an old guy who would speak to me all the time, like you realize these are people with stories and lives and this should just be forgotten. So yeah, definitely passionate about that as well.

Closing / social media / BBC vs. BBC

Dallas

I know we’re running short here on time, but I did want to give you a chance here as we wrap up to let everybody know where they can follow you on the internet, your social media accounts, and also any other awesome projects that you have coming up that you might want to tell people about.

Scarlett

Okay, so my Instagram is ScarlettJonesOfficial. And all my other social media is ScarletJonesUK. And it’s Scarlet with two T’s. So that’s my OnlyFans, my Twitter. Tik Tok, they’re all Scarlett JonesUK. Projects coming up — I have a lot of scenes waiting to release that are very exciting that I can’t say anything about. And obviously, like I said, working and working on getting my visa for America is a really big goal. And I have my documentary coming out, I think in May, but I’m not sure if that will be available for you guys in America or not. I’m not sure so, but that’s a big deal as well. So I’m very excited.

Dallas

Your documentary, can you tell us any more about about that?

Scarlett

Yeah, it’s an English television thing, which is obviously very different to American. And it’s all about the adult industry actually, and different aspects of it. So I’m covering the professional porn side of things. So yeah, it’s one episode and it’s going to be on in ITV in England, so if you know what that is, but yeah, so I’m really excited. But I’m kind of nervous because I feel like in England, obviously people are going to react quite negatively towards porn and negatively towards it. So we’ll have to see how it goes. But I’m excited to see it.

Dallas

So ITV is the commercial TV property as opposed to the government one — that’s the BBC, right?

Scarlett

Yeah, so it goes BBC and then there’s number two, which is BBC, and then number three, which is ITV.

Dallas

So when you think BBC these days, do you think instantly British Broadcasting Corporation or do you think the other porn meeting of BBC [big black cock]?

Scarlett

Usually BBC porn — meaning it’s definitely more fun than the BBC British Broadcasting. Yeah, it’s funny actually. I don’t actually own a television. So I often don’t think about BBC in the same way as I used to do.

Dallas

Because there’s a TV license, right? Don’t you have to have a TV license in Britain that is not cheap, as I recall?

Scarlett

No, I think every year it’s about 180 pounds, which is maybe $250 a year. Just to watch BBC is mental and also they have enforcement officers that come around to your house and make sure you don’t have a television. That’s that’s England. So it’s actually crazy things are very regulated over here.

Dallas

Although I guess you get all that good programming or in theory good programming out of out of it.

Scarlett

It depends what television you’d like to watch. I prefer Netflix, personally.

Dallas

There you go. There you go. Well, no one will need a TV license to see or listen to this interview, thankfully. Well, it’s been a great treat chatting with you here, Scarlett, and people can of course, visit Adult Empire and look up your name and find your movies there as well, as well as following you on all the social media accounts you mentioned.
