It’s easy to get caught up in the glamour of the Covergirl. Chasey Lain plays a busty beauty who is about to hit the big time, until a scandalous tape threatens to derail her plans. (In case there’s any doubt we’re fully in the classic ’90s, we see a brick-style cellphone and black-plastic VHS tape within the first 10 minutes of the movie.) Clad mostly in the fabulously low-cut tight top seen on the cover, Lain creates an indelible impression from the movie’s opening moments. “I could watch Chasey whistle for 20 minutes and get excited about it,” said an AE reviewer at the time of the movie’s release, and I certainly wouldn’t argue with that! As she goes on a dogged determined journey to discover who is blackmailing her, she gets involved in the requisite series of steamy hookups. By the end of it all, another porn legend (Peter North) shows up to bring it all to an appropriately spectacular climax.

Shadow Dancers 1 & 2
John Stagliano is one of a select group of major figures who can claim to have had a seismic impact on porn over the past 35 years. (He, along with a few other pioneers, spearheaded the gonzo revolution that continues to shape the industry.)
