Interview: Catching Up With Ava Addams
Isn’t it time you caught up with MILF superstar Ava Addams? In this new interview, she chats about her stage name, her evolving attitude toward breast implants, her most memorable scenes, her favorite TV shows, and much more.
You were born in Gibraltar but moved to Texas as a child. What are your memories of your time in Gibraltar?
I was four and half when I moved to Houston so I don’t remember much about Gibraltar. I remember the terrace and stairs at the apartment, I remember going to the beach and running around my father’s salon, but that’s about it.
How did you come up with your stage name?
I wanted something simple and easy and always liked the name Ava and I did want the same first letter for the last name and I just took a phone book and started looking and got to “Adams” and immediately thought of The Addams Family and went with that.
You tweeted that you are contemplating a smaller implant size. Tell us a little bit more about that!
When I first got my implants I was so skinny and they weren’t as large but over the years, gaining weight and then building more muscle and working out more they honestly just get in the way. I’d love to be a small D, maybe even a C.
What do you view as the biggest challenges facing the adult industry today?
I still think that society judges us for what we do. Social media is the perfect example of that. I constantly have issues with Instagram and Tik Tok and I 100% believe it’s because of who I am.
Sisters of Anarchy is one of your most popular videos on Adult Empire. What are your recollections of shooting that movie?
That was such a fun movie . . . and to get to play a spin on Katey Sagal’s character, Gemma, was just the coolest! The show was so popular at the time and they embraced us and lots of adult actresses did guest spots on the show, so it was just a really cool project to be a part of.
Do you find the MILF label limiting or liberating?
I hated it at first and thought it would be limiting, but you can do so much within that category that I actually think it’s a lot of fun and I take full advantage of that.
What have been some of your most creatively fruitful collaborations in porn?
Porn Fidelity comes to mind, particularly my scene with James Deen where he portrays a crazed fan that has moved into my attic [scene one of MILF Fidelity] . . . it was a super intense scene and the set was just crazy. I did not see the set up until it was time for me to go into the room so all my reactions are legit.
What kind of directorial feedback do you most value?
Constructive criticism is the best…don’t tell me everything looks good or I’m doing amazing if something needs to be tweaked.
Is there any fellow pornstar whose career arc has closely mirrored your own?
I don’t compare myself to anyone. I know certain directors, companies, and even fans like to pit us girls against each other, but I truly believe those of us that have been around for a while and are still popular are where we are because we bring something unique to the table.
Do you remember your first time on a porn set?
I shot a lot of solo and G/G before jumping onto B/G and even though I think my first B/G and G/G scenes were very memorable and I remember both so well. My first big solo project was in Arizona for FTV Girls. It was fun, exciting, and liberating. My first G/G with Molly Cavalli and B/G with James Deen. I was so nervous on both occasions until the sex started.
Share with us how you’ve witnessed the adult industry changing through the years.
When I first started I didn’t know much about the actual Industry or how it operated. I had an agent and he did everything and I basically just showed up, then I got my website started caring more about my brand and image, and eventually got rid of the agent and decided I wanted to be in control of whom I worked with and for whom. And of course now with the sites like OnlyFans we have so much more control then we ever had and I think it made us realize our worth more so than ever before. Like we thought we knew but we really didn’t.
Talk about shooting MILF Dreams for Holly Randall and AE Films in 2015.
So shooting with Holly is always amazing, she pays attention to every detail and goes more in depth with the story lines . . . I shot with Bill Bailey. We always had great scenes and he was so sweet and nice — a pleasure to be around.
Which of your award wins has meant the most to you?
Anything fan voted. I could care less about the others. They’re all “bought” in some shape or form and meaningless in my opinion.
Tell us about your YouTube channel, House of Addams.
What videos do you enjoy making the most? I started my Youtube Chanel for fun and during the pandemic ,it kept me busy. It was a way to showcase a different side of me to my fans and I’m so thankful to my followers — they even managed to get me a silver play button! I enjoy the lifestyle stuff the most.
What does a typical day look like for you?
I get up before everyone else, let the dogs out, make coffee, go over work emails/texts, get everyone else up and running and once they leave I usually work out then it’s straight to shooting content or running errands. It doesn’t sound busy, but trust me, it is. I have to shoot all my content while everyone is gone which is not always easy . . . and then of course I do so much more.
In a “#50FactsAboutMe” tweet, you said, “I always have to have the last word in an argument.” Do you ever find yourself in arguments about the creative direction of a scene or movie?
Rarely, a couple times maybe and I did put my foot down. I always refused to do anything I wasn’t comfortable with.
Are you a big fan of Houston sports?
Yessss! I don’t watch football, but I love baseball and basketball!
Currently, what are your favorite TV shows, books, movies, etc.?
I’m excited for season two of Only Murderers in the Building. Other than that mainly documentaries for me. The Nightingale was the last good book I read.
In a recent interview, you told Lisa Ann, “I’m an introvert at heart.” How do you balance your introversion with a career that sometimes requires extroversion?
It’s definitely a challenge. I adore and I am so thankful for my fans, but sometimes when they approach me, I do get overwhelmed or I feel like my privacy has been invaded, especially if I am with family. I don’t consider myself a “celebrity” so it’s just weird to me . . . yes, even after all these years.
Would you ever consider writing an autobiographical book, similar to those of Asa Akira and other stars?
I have been approached and it has crossed my mind several times . . . maybe one day. I have so many interesting stories and I think a lot of moms whether they want to believe it or not could relate to a lot of them.
