After all, it’s much easier to get audiences to attend a movie about a character they’re already familiar with.
Over the past 15 years, IP or intellectual-property fever has dominated Hollywood cinema. Since porn often draws inspiration from the cultural context, it’s no surprise that it soon followed suit. Spoofs and parodies ran wild in the industry, particularly in the period around the turn of the last decade. It’s easy to see why they resonate with audiences. They give us the opportunity to see familiar characters and scenarios in a decidedly different light, while permitting pornstars to show their versatility. The easy opportunities for fetish and cosplay don’t hurt either!
Many of the top spoofs were directed by Will Ryder, who arguably refined and honed the form into what we know and enjoy today.
