‘Lisa Ann on Shooting Porn in the ‘90s’ (VIDEO)
When NFL kicker Adam Vinatieri unofficially retired in 2020, he was the last remaining active pro football player whose career began in the 1990s. In this way, he was a link to a bygone era of the game, when rules were looser and football had a completely different feel. Adult star Lisa Ann, herself a major sports fan, is something of a porn Vinatieri. She, too, began her career in the ’90s, when her industry was vastly different. In this clip from our 2018 interview with Ann, she discusses the contrast in the eras.

Lisa: If you think about the ’90s, there was no Viagra, and the scenes took four hours compared to the 40 minutes, or some directors, 25 minutes now. And we had to be engaged with our talent. We wanted to. We wanted to have a good scene. So we were pretty much having sex that whole four hours. Even if we were in another room, and they were re-lighting, because each position had to be completely relit, we would be still having sex or doing oral. We would be doing whatever we could to keep the moment so when they called us back into that room, we were good to go.
Dallas: So everything had to be in the camera, in a sense, right? So do you look at that period with nostalgia, or do you like it better the way it is now?
Lisa: I loved how it was then. I loved how connected we were. I felt like it was so much more of a team effort. Male and female performers knew — the guys made sure we looked good when they undressed us. They displayed our butt and our legs and touched us. I mean, it was really erotic, doing scenes in the ’90s. It was really erotic, and for me, being younger and most of these men being more experienced — I was on this joyride, you know, having the best sex, and the most experienced [partners]. And I also loved that we didn’t have phones. We didn’t have anything distracting us, so everyone really got to know each other on set. You knew where people were from. You knew a little bit about their story. And so when you found out what crew was going to be there, you literally could not wait to see them to catch up from the last time. And now I feel that there’s times when people are so engaged in their phone and their hand is so in front of their face, they may be on set with a crew that is literally one-tenth the size of the crew we were on set with in the ’90s, yet they still don’t know everyone’s name.
