‘Pornstar Julia De Lucia: Critiquing Her Own Movies’ (VIDEO)
Many people can’t stand hearing the sound of their own voice. When presented with a recording of themselves speaking, they react with incredulity or embarrassment. Similarly, pornstars sometimes have a difficult time watching their own work. Romanian star Julia De Lucia conquered her own feelings of awkwardness, though, and made a point to review and critique her scenes. In this clip, she discusses her process in looking back at past scenes.

Dallas: So when you watch your own scenes and you’re kind of critiquing yourself, what kind of things are you looking for to improve upon?
Julia: I don’t know! Like, say, for example, my position, how is my face, how I scream, because, you know, I am — in my private life, I’m really chill. I’m really silent, sorry. I’m not like, “Ohhh, ohhh, ohhh!” And in the movies, I must be, so sometimes I’m watching to see if I’m not too much, or whatever, you know? The guy is making love, and I’m like, “Aaaaah, aaaaah!” Now it’s not [realistic], you know, but yeah.
Dallas: So you’re very quiet in your private life? So is that something you had to learn when you were shooting your first few movies? Was there any director who said, “Oh, you need to make more noise”?
Julia: Yeah, they said, “You must to talk” and I’m like, “What? Talk? I’m concentrated here to my pleasure. What talk? I cannot think now.” You know, what am I supposed to talk [about].
But yeah, I’m very silent in my real life. I will — I don’t know. I’m more like, [gasps and rasps quietly]. “I will suck you all the blood.” [Laughs]
