Before the pandemic, you visited Hawaii! Tell us about your vacation. Was it your first time there?
My trip to Hawaii seems like an eternity ago given the magnitude of the situation the world is dealing with. It was my first trip to Hawaii and my first vacation since moving to the U.S. in the summer of 2016. I had an amazing time. I spent two weeks in Hawaii and was fortunate to get to spend some quality time with friends and family as we all coordinated our vacations. I spent time on Maui, Oahu and Kauai. I loved every minute. I swam, snorkeled, paddle-boarded, and hiked every day. I even went ziplining for the first time. It was fantastic.
What’s something that you used to take for granted but no longer will after life returns to normal?
Like many, I took for granted the ability to move freely and safely outdoors. While my schedule has always been very tight, I’ve always maintained a strong workout routine as well as taken every opportunity to go hiking or to the beach. Whatever the new “normal” looks like when we come out the other side of this crisis, I know my appreciation and gratitude for the outdoors will be immense.
Are you binge-watching any shows during the lockdown?
No, in an attempt to retain as strong a sense of normalcy as possible, I have done my best to maintain a full and productive schedule. Watching TV has never been part of my routine. However, there has been one exception. I had to watch Tiger King just so I could understand the memes. It was wild.
We see a lot of your fans talking about your Snapchat. Was Snapchat a form of social media you used a lot before the pandemic? Do you find it easier to connect with fans via Snapchat than other forms of social media?
I’ve been using Snapchat for a while, even before the pandemic. Now I’m utilizing the platform even more as a way of connecting with fans and keeping them entertained.
Tell us about winning the AVN award for Female Performer of the Year for the third time in a row!
It’s still difficult for me to put into words how it felt to win AVN Female Performer of the Year for a third consecutive time. Over the years, I have received great generosity from AVN for my work as a performer and producer, and to win the AVN Female Performer of the Year once is an amazing honor that only a few performers have received. To win it for a third time was overwhelming and if I’m to be honest still hasn’t sunk in. I’m filled with gratitude and it was a night I’ll never forget.
What do you have to say to people who ignore the stay-at-home warnings?
Obviously, there are many workers in essential services that need to brave the potential dangers of going to work on a daily basis. And yes, for many, infrequent trips to the grocery store or pharmacy are unavoidable. But to actively ignore the stay-at-home warnings is disappointing and a danger not only to one’s health but those of many others. As the authorities have been reminding everyone on a daily basis, it is a civic responsibility to play our part in flattening the curve in order to put downward pressure on the demand for health and hospital services and resources. I know staying at home for weeks on end is not easy, but the more complete the lockdown we achieve, the sooner we can return to a version of the lifestyles we all know and love.
What can your fans look forward to seeing from you later in the year?
On the eve of the pandemic and the FSC’s necessary production hold, I had just returned from Hawaii and thrown myself into production in earnest. At the time, I was in pre-production discussions with John Stagliano and Rocco Siffredi about a new installment of the Fashionistas franchise, and I was also in the early stages of brainstorming a new showcase with one of my all-time favorite directors. As it stands, both projects are still “a go,” so at this point in time it’s not a question of if but when. With that said, these are particularly fluid and challenging times. But as soon as production resumes, I will be returning to production with the same vigor as always. In the meantime, my fans can still find new content updated daily on my Only Fans and SnapChat.
If fans had to self-isolate with only one of your movies in tow, which would you recommend?
That’s a really difficult question to answer. For fans who want great teases and blistering sex, I would suggest Angela 3 and Angela White: Dark Side. As shown in I Am Angela, your California home is very minimalist. Now that stay-at-home directives are in place, is there any part of you that wishes you had a place filled with distractions and bric-a-brac?
My apartment in Los Angeles has always been more of an office/production space than a home. As my fans who own I Am Angela will have seen, my apartment is very minimalist, almost Spartan if you will. One of the reasons my apartment was so sparse was that I simply didn’t have the time to make it more homely. That is something I am currently addressing, given my reduced shooting schedule. But with that said, I have actually been clearing out the bric-a-brac rather than accumulating it. I’m sure like many, I’ve just finished the spring clean of a lifetime. I don’t like busyness or excess as I feel it clutters my mind. The only thing I wish I had right now were plants. I’m definitely missing nature.
What was the last scene you shot prior to the production shutdown?
The last scene I shot before the production shutdown was a virtual reality anal scene with Will Pounder for VRBangers. But it was no ordinary VR anal scene. It was filmed as a game. Fans will have multiple choices for interacting with me and depending on what they choose they might have the opportunity to fuck me. But if they choose poorly, they may go down a very different path. It’s like a “choose your own anal adventure”. If a fan makes it to the sex, they will have the ability to choose the sex acts and positions. It was a really fun concept and I had a lot of fun on set.
In what ways do you think the COVID-19 pandemic will have lasting effects on the industry?
I’m always loath to speculate, and I think the impact that the pandemic has on the industry will depend, at least in part, on how long the production hold is in place. But with that said, I do feel strongly that the adult industry landscape will be changed. The advent of COVID-19 will accelerate processes that were already in play before the pandemic, such as the shrinking of the DVD market, the proliferation of content platforms, and the trend among performers to self-produce and self-market. My guess is we will return to an industry more digital and more decentralized than ever. But there are wiser people than me with regards to this question.
What aspects of your everyday routine do you miss the most?
With regards to my personal routine, I miss the simple activities: enjoying a meal with friends and colleagues; visiting the farmers market; and going to the gym. Turning to my professional routine, I miss being on set, shooting content, and enjoying the feeling of community that comes with production. But of course, most of all, I miss physical intimacy. I miss all the sex, but I also miss the cuddles and kisses and just being phsycially close to people in general.
Now that so many people are having to meet via video conference, what are the keys to looking good on a webcam, from your perspective as an adult star?
Yes, many performers are turning to, or returning to, platforms that can be engaged while sheltering in place. Camming is one of those platforms and I have enjoyed returning to MyFreeCams and reconnecting with my fans that I used to cam with on a weekly basis. The keys to “looking good” on webcam are the same for any production: nice makeup; sexy wardrobe; and fantastic lighting. But the most important factor is feeling sexy and confident in yourself, and that means something different for everyone. The key to camming is being true to yourself. Camming can be wonderfully intimate, but is such an environment, being honest with yourself and your fans is paramount.
What are your webcam and video conference pet peeves?
I’m not sure if I have any pet peeves about webcamming. It has always been something I really enjoyed. You set your own schedule, decide what kind of show you’ll be doing, and get to connect with your fans one-on-one all from the comfort (and safety) of your home.
The effects of the coronavirus have impacted the world in so many ways. Do you find yourself enjoying some down time for a change or are you climbing the walls?
I have gone out of my way to make sure I keep a routine and a full schedule. I set myself aggressive deadlines and targets, which I find helps me manage this situation. I’ve always liked to stay busy. This situation is unprecedented and a challenge for us all. But I’m very fortunate to be in the position I am in and grateful that I am able to continue to work and thrive even with such heavy restrictions in place.
Are you doing any recording, podcast, or social media with your fans from home?
Yes, in addition to webcamming and shooting Only Fans and SnapChat content from home, I have been doing Playboy Book Club. Each week I take over Playboy’s Instagram Live Feed and read one of the many incredible articles from famous authors that they’ve published over the years. It’s been a lot of fun. I’ve also been conducting interviews for Playboy. I interviewed Sophie Dee last week and this week I’m interviewing Joanna Angel and Small Hands.
Are you making any big plans for when life returns to a new type of normal?
I’m always planning something. I’m doing a lot of pre-production at the moment so that I can be prepared for when we do return to shooting. But I’m aware that it could be some time before that happens. So right now, I’m focused on creating content from the safety of my home.
Do you keep in touch with your fellow stars during this break?
Definitely. Apart from the normal and ongoing correspondence that I maintain with many of my closest industry colleagues, I’ve also been doing group masturbation shows with a bunch of performers. What would you like to say to your fans during this period of uncertainty and fear?
We are all in this together. The nature of the crisis and the unknowns surrounding the novel coronavirus make this time an extremely unsettling and challenging one. Please listen to the instructions and advice of the authorities in your local jurisdiction when it comes to movement outdoors. And when at home, ensure to take time for self-care, both physically and mentally. While the additional time at home is an opportunity to vest oneself in learning new skills and indulging one’s creativity, don’t feel pressure to work from dawn till dusk. Focus on your needs and remember that this crisis should be approached as a marathon not a sprint. Any schedule or target one sets must be achievable and sustainable.
