Remembering Candy Samples

Sweetness, flavor, irresistibility . . . all the same qualities associated with a favorite candy may well be linked to its pornstar namesake, the legendary Candy Samples. Sadly, this famed star died last month at age 91. Happily, she leaves behind an impressive legacy that will keep her memory alive for many years to come.

Described by blog the Rialto Report as possessing “a mischievous, friendly look that stood out from all the other models,” Samples started out in the industry before the industry as we know it even existed! IAFD lists her first credits as appearing in 1971, but other resources indicate that Samples was appearing in nude photo sets and other proto-pornographic material even earlier than that.

While mega-busty stars like Siri and Samantha 38G would later become familiar parts of the industry, Candy’s remarkable measurements set her apart in an era before cam shows, social media, and instant streaming. She boasted a remarkable 48DD bust size, a physical attribute that scored her plum roles as her career progressed. Many fans remember her for her roles in several cult classics, including Russ Meyer’s Beneath the Valley of the Ultra-Vixens. She receded from on-camera work as the 1980s ebbed. While Samples kept a low profile in her later years, she did sit for an illuminating podcast interview with Rialto Report in 2015.
