Penthouse Names Gianna Dior the 2019 Pet of the Year

Penthouse is a legendary brand that helped introduce adult entertainment to mass audiences, so there’s still a special air of distinction to anyone who is lucky enough to be named Penthouse Pet of the Year. This year’s winner is a rising star and familiar face for porn fans: Gianna Dior.

“Thank you so much for this incredible honor and thank you so much to all my fans who voted for me!” Gianna tweeted in response to the honor. The news was announced to coincide with the latest edition of the magazine, which profiles Dior and features a new photoshoot of the star. Dior was Penthouse’s Pet of the Month in September 2018. In winning the company’s most famous prize, she joins a list of notable pornstars who have previously held the title, ranging Sunny Leone in 2003 to Nikki Benz in 2011 to Gina Valentina just last year.

Dior spent many of her formative years in Alabama and worked in a sushi restaurant and eye doctor’s office prior to her porn career. At the suggestion of a Tinder match (and porn agent) who was impressed by her beauty, she decided to try adult performing, first with Miami-based studios such as Bang Bros Productions and MOFOS. To take her career to the next level, she went to porn super-agent Mark Spiegler. Before long, she was starring in movies for Porn Valley studios like Evil Angel and Jules Jordan Video. (Dior told Penthouse that while she likes being in California for the work opportunities it presents, she would prefer to live in the Pacific Northwest. “I crave the rain and gloom. I think I belong in Seattle,” she said.) By November 2018, Dior had found her way into Adult Empire’s top 100 most popular pornstars, and AE cited her as a newbie to watch in its 2019 year-in-porn preview.

To Dior, the porn industry is a place where she can be her true self. “It feels liberating. I can’t be slut-shamed here, because [being sexual] is what we’re supposed to do. I can just be myself and not be afraid of people judging me. That’s why I love it,” she said in an April 2019 interview with David Naz. Dior has not yet shot an anal scene but has otherwise embraced a variety of genres, including creampie, solo, all-girl, and more. One genre you’re not likely to see her in is BDSM. “I have had so many requests for bondage scenes, and I have no interest [ . . . ] I love being restricted, but just not by stuff like ball gags and ropes,” she told Penthouse.
