Best of the Sale: Girlsway on VOD
All-girl and lesbian content is sometimes designed largely with an exclusively male audience in mind, but Girlsway aims for a wider audience. The studio, launched in late 2014 by Gamma Films Group, releases story-rich, sexy movies that appeal to all genders and identities. “There’s not a story and then you cut and then there’s this dissociated sex scene. If we do our job right, it all weaves together and the sex is just really part of the story,” Girlsway director Bree Mills told Adult Empire in a recent interview (watch for the full video Q&A with Bree coming soon). Girlsway’s memorable lineup of movies is on sale at Adult Empire for a limited time (through March 15)! Check out some of the highlights:
The Turning
Watching it retrospectively, The Turning is less of an out-and-out horror movie than its cover art implies, but it represented a watershed moment for Girlsway in terms of production value and overall popularity. It appropriates aspects of the zombie and virus movie genres to interesting effect, particularly in the intense performance of Adriana Chechik, who is well suited to the sort of rambunctious action the film’s plot engenders. “It was really getting into what feature production is actually all about. It’s still one of the most popular productions we’ve ever done,” said co-director Mills of the movie in a 2018 behind-the-scenes video.

Project Pandora
The sequel to The Turning is just as distinctive as the original! The virus that bedeviled the first movie’s cast returns, this time with Cherie DeVille in the lead role. Porn is not usually known as a tearjerking genre, but one particular Project Pandora scene caused the movie’s crew to well up. “There’s a [Cherie Deville scene] where it was so emotional that they were really in tears during the filming of the scene. When it wrapped, many of the members of the crew were also teary-eyed because it was such an emotional scene. And that’s something where we really transcended what porn should and shouldn’t be, and I’m very proud of it. It’s always stood out to me as one of our greatest moments we’ve ever captured,” said Mills.

The Business Of Women
Go all the way back to the beginning with Girlsway’s first feature! It was an auspicious start, too, thanks to an XBIZ win as All-Girl Release of the Year. The movie examines the dynamics of power by giving us an inside look at the relationship between a successful businesswoman (India Summer) and the call girl (Samantha Rone) she has brought into her fold.

The Chiropractor
Leave it to the keen, unconventional minds at Girlsway to take something as mundane as a visit to the chiropractor and turn it into a sexy, incisive porn drama. Then again, your chiropractor probably isn’t Angela White, a practitioner whose beautiful bedside manner is at least as effective as any of the techniques she applies. (It’s also fun to see Mia Malkova and taking the on roles of loutish construction workers who can’t wait to treat themselves to Angela’s special services.) White’s naughty back-straightening adventures bookend the movie, with two further sex vignettes (Carter Cruise gets an “under the table” deal with Chanell Heart; Jayme Langford visits a “psychologist” who turns out to be a horny gynecologist) in between.
