2019 AVN Award Winners: Angela White, ‘Deadpool XXX’ & More

The AVN Awards, arguably the most prestigious prizes in the adult industry, announced their 2019 winners in a glitzy ceremony in Las Vegas Saturday night! Check out red carpet pics (view video interviewshere) plus some of the highlight winners:

Female Performer of the Year

Only one prior star has ever won AVN’s Female Performer of the Year two times, but if any performer was destined to match that, it was Angela White. She recorded her second straight win in the category to continue her impressive run of the last year or so, a period that has seen her collect a trunk full of awards and dominate AE’s pornstar rankings for 30 straight weeks (as of this writing). She was also named Adult Empire’s Pornstar of the Year in December.

MILF Performer of the Year

Angela White wasn’t the only back-to-back winner! Cherie DeVille also notched a second straight win as MILF Performer of the Year. Before DeVille, Kendra Lust was also a repeat winner, capturing the prize in both 2016 and 2017.

Best New Starlet

If the wolf is at the door, what is lurking behind it? A major award win for a new adult trendsetter, that’s what! 2018 saw Wolfe become a Penthouse Pet, Vixen Angel, and much more. “It means the world to me I can’t even tell you. Honestly still in complete and utter shock. Thank you to all the wonderful fans that voted I will be following through with my promise of content. I love you all!” Wolfe tweeted in reaction to the win.

Male Performer of the Year

Ferrara added to his already enormous awards case with yet another Male Performer of the Year victory. He’s previously won the equivalent award at XBIZ, XRCO, and more. 2018 was another prolific year for the French star, with performances with all the top co-stars and studios.

Director of the Year

It was a good night for husband-and-wife team Manuel Ferrara and Kayden Kross. Not only did Manuel snag Male Performer of the Year (see above), Kayden won the coveted Director of the Year statuette, thanks to innovative and artistic efforts such as Abigail, After Dark, and Sun-Lit 3.

Best Star Showcase

Part documentary, part porno, and all Angela White. I Am Angela used the concepts set down in I Am Katrina (behind-the-scenes footage as a setup for porn scenes) as a springboard but employed them in a unique way. It’s the movie that undoubtedly helped Angela win a rare second straight Performer of the Year award, and it seems likely to be a movie fans and critics will return to time and again.

Best Drama

Tori Black, an AVN favorite of years past, helped make After Dark a can’t-miss porn blockbuster, combining her own star power with that of director Kayden Kross and Greg Lansky‘s elegant Vixen imprint.

Best Parody

Deadpool has already seen one porn spoof, but it took the special Axel Braun treatment to give us the definitive adult rendition of the randy comic book franchise. As the cover amusingly puts it, “Like the real movie, but with bad acting and fake boobs.” The movie also won awards for makeup, actor (Seth Gamble), and art direction.
