Studio Spotlight: Vixen on VOD
Origins: Vixen was founded in June 2016 as a companion label to Blacked and Tushy, the two wildly successful studios introduced by French director Greg Lansky in 2014 and 2015, respectively. “This studio is all about showcasing young and natural beauties with passionate sex scenes, next level cinematography and intriguing story lines,” noted the blurb about the studio’s launch at the time. Like Blacked and Tushy, Vixen has been marked since the beginning by Lansky’s famously eye-catching visual style, which brings gloss and glamour to hardcore porn.

All-time VOD bestseller: Natural Beauties (pictured). Vixen’s debut movie was also a debut for Kendra Sunderland, the Oregon “Library Girl” who finally decided to shoot hardcore porn after dabbling in webcam shows. The movie didn’t disappoint, offering Kendra in a powerful scene co-starring Mick Blue. Sunderland has proven to be a favorite collaborator of both Vixen and Greg Lansky.
Complete list of Vixen Angels: One major part of the Vixen mystique is the monthly crowning of a Vixen Angel. Festooned in Vixen gear, each Angel is feted with a special photo session that could easily be mistaken for a glam shoot for a high-class fashion outlet like Victoria’s Secret. The Angel also receives featured roles in Vixen movies. The coveted title has taken on much of the same limelight and prestige that adult-oriented designations like Penthouse Pet and Playmate of the Month have in years past. Since 2016, there have been dozens Vixen Angels and several Vixen Angels of the Year: Kendra Sunderland (8/2016, also Angel of the Year 2017), August Ames (9/2016), Ariana Marie (10/2016), Megan Rain (11/2016), Ana Foxxx (12/2016), Anya Olsen (1/2017), Keisha Grey (2/2017), Eva Lovia (3/2017), Natalia Starr (4/2017), Abigail Mac (5/2017), Angela White (6/2017), Vicki Chase (7/2017), Amia Miley (8/2017), Uma Jolie (9/2017), Riley Reid (10/2017), Lana Rhoades (11/2017), Tori Black (12/2017, also Angel of the Year 2018), Nicole Aniston (1/2018), Abella Danger (2/2018), Jessa Rhodes (3/2018), Jada Stevens (4/2018), Karlee Grey (5/2018), Mia Malkova (6/2018), Kira Noir (7/2018), Gina Valentina (8/2018), Brett Rossi (9/2018), Alina Lopez (10/2018), Adriana Chechik (11/2018), Ivy Wolfe (12/2018), Teanna Trump (1/2019, also 2019 Vixen Angel of the Year), Little Caprice (2/2019), Alex Grey (3/2019), Mia Melano (4/2019), Sophie Dee (5/2019), Emily Willis (9/2019), Riley Steele (11/2019).
Quotable: Vixen separates itself from Blacked, Tushy, and Blacked Raw by not confining itself to one overall genre or theme. “Vixen won’t be focused on a specific niche and will offer diversity. Some customers enjoy watching exclusively a genre and some enjoy diversity — that’s what Vixen stands for. We plan on exploring many different themes, girl-girl being one of them that is highly requested by our customers,” Lansky told XBIZ in 2016.
