Hugh Grants Admits He Enjoys Shooting Movie Sex Scenes

Hugh Grant is known for his feckless, stammering charm, but you’ll find no stuttering at all in his admission that, unlike most movie stars, he actually enjoys shooting movie sex scenes.

“The conventional response to sex scenes is that they’re horrible and not sexy and it’s all so unnatural,” Grant said in an interview with W Magazine. “But I’ve always found filming sex scenes to be quite a turn-on. I like the experience of being in a sexual position when you’re not supposed to be in one.” (Grant does find the emotional sequences in movie romances challenging, though. “Love scenes are extremely difficult,” he said. “You’re always within a millimetre of sentimentality and yuck.”)

Grant’s opinions stand in stark contrast to those of most of his fellow actors, whose views are typified by Mila Kunis: “It’s hard to have a sex scene, period. It doesn’t matter if it’s a friend, a male, a female. You’re with 100-something crew members, lighting you, repositioning you. There’s no comfort whatsoever.”

Grant claimed last year that he gave up watching porn entirely, which perhaps partially accounts for why he seems to find more zest in his own on-screen sex scenes than other actors do in theirs.
