The Five Strangest Verso Cinema Porn Scenes
Verso Cinema isn’t content just to do “porn as usual.” You won’t find the familiar lineup of tease, oral sex, sex and cumshot in their scenes. They aspire to something entirely different, an elevated asethetic that is far removed from the typical concept of a porn movie. “The prevailing language in porn has always been unimaginative, unrealistic and poorly made, stigmatizing itself as an ordinary and dirty product and devoid of taste and quality. It doesn’t need to be so. We want to show stimulating images, create realistic stories wrapped in a beautiful performance,” Verso’s official “About Me” states. Naturally, this ambitious goal results in many highly unusual sequences. They deliver all the steamy sensuality you’d expect from a porno, but they tend to approach matters with surreal setups and scenarios. We count down five of the best (and by best we mean “weirdest”)!
Driving
There are plenty of porn scenes and series that involve vehicles. Bang Bus, anyone? As ever, Verso Cinema takes the concept in a different direction. The car featured in this particular scene is a toy, which is dipped in chocolate and playfully rolled across the skin of the female lead. The slow and deliberate pace of these foreplay sequences adds to the sensuality of the movie, but does anyone else find that white mask-like eye makeup a little spooky?
Stairlove
Happily, this scene does not involve sex with a staircase but rather just sex on a staircase. (Verso Cinema isn’t that weird!) That doesn’t sound very comfortable to us, but Verso manages to turn the scenario into a typically visually engaging feast. Our heroine pauses on a chic and streamlined staircase to tie her shoes. Her lover swings by and soon more than just her shoes are coming off. Heated passion aside, we still can’t help but wince at the thought of sex on stairs with all those sharp angles.
Sheets
Yes, sheets! Sheets don’t usually figure into porn scenes and are generally tossed aside (if they’re present at all). The cover for this movie is a tangle of post-coital bed covers that invites us to imagine the sort of passion that put them in such a state. The scene proceeds to show us what happened in detail, using sheets as an omnipresent prop. (As the sequence opens, the playful couple is unseen and completely covered by the titular sheets. Later, the woman in the scene balls up a portion of them as a makeshift gag.) While bed sheets don’t sound like they’d make for a very interesting visual focus, Verso somehow uses them to their maximum effect. Like all Verso’s scenes, this one is bizarre and surreal, but somehow manages to work.
Going Bananas
The shape of a banana gives it an obvious utility as a porn prop, and this scene does get to that eventually, but it starts out a little bit differently. The male lead of the scene decides to play a sex game with his partner. He leaves a series of notes around the house for his lover to find, each with a different directive. She goes from room to room, following his requests to the letter. The second note instructs her to find a banana, which eventually is applied in the bedroom in exactly the manner you’re probably imagining. Sploshing enthusiasts might be disappointed to learn that the banana does not end up getting smashed to pieces in the heat of the action.
Unwrap Me
Everyone in Verso Cinema movies seems to live in spacious, sparsely furnished modernist houses. What do you do when your living room is the size of a barn and you don’t have a couch or TV? Well, you wrap yourself up in red tape and fool around, of course. In keeping with the tape theme, the scene’s couple puts on a cassette (yes, a cassette) of classical piano and proceeds to slowly, sensually remove the scarlet strips they’ve covered themselves in. With its bright splashes of red and constant crinkle of the tape being pulled off, this sequence is both visually and aurally engaging. (And the idea of cutting through “red tape” in a porn scene has to have some sort of metaphorical significance, right? Maybe we’re overthinking it.)
