Amazon’s Alexa Accidentally Talks to Youngster About Porn
Oh, that Alexa!
Amazon’s voice-activated personal assistant will do all kinds of things for you. She’ll turn on the radio, tell you the temperature, provide facts and figures, crack a joke, or play 20 questions. And . . . if you don’t enunciate quite right, she’ll even accidentally talk to you about porn.
Observe as an adorable little tyke asks Alexa to play “digger digger” (we’re not sure what that is either, but it sounds perfectly innocent) and gets a racy response:
Even Lightning McQueen in the corner seems to have an aghast expression! Naturally, the adults in the room immediately swoop in to get Alexa to stop, but happily, the youngster appears unperturbed by Alexa’s momentary stream of naughty porn words. Years of therapy successfully avoided (hopefully)! Naturally, there’s a temptation to think the video might be staged, and numerous YouTube commenters have theorized as such. According to Geekwire, another YouTube viewer conspiratorially suggested, in an apparently now-deleted comment, that “YouTube put this video as the #1 trending to secretly sabotage Amazon Echo and entice people to buy Google Home.”
Perhaps Alexa should chat with Apple’s Siri about dirty talk (whether intentional or inadvertent). In October, The Mirror discussed the phenomenon of turning Siri (and other similar AI assistants) into a virtual girlfriend. “Hey, Alexa” indeed!
