What’s in a Name?

The ongoing saga of Belle Knox got me thinking about names in porn. I mean, there have been so few who have performed under their own names, and I can understand why.

What I understand much less is why someone would change names midstream. Yes, Shawna Lenee was Kyra Minor—that may have been a pre/post-surgery name change. It does happen.

I’m thinking of my recent reviews, however, where I’ve been championing the cause of Kelsey Ruthless, more or less to be a goof and have a running theme. Think Colbert and his WristStrong thing or something. I’m serious about being a fan, though. She was in University Gangbang 15, and I really liked her. She’s stuck with me. So I had some fun trying to talk her up in my reviews. I’m going to be doing the same thing with the incredible Marley Blaze, by the way.

But then I started reviewing Gangland 86 (don’t get me going again about the racial stereotyping; more on that in a future review), and I see a redhead named Kierra Wilde. Now, I could be wrong, but unless even their moles are in the same place, Kelsey and Kierra are the same person. This makes championing her much more difficult. Which one do I pick? Kiesey Ruthde?

Why does this happen? Porn is hard (ha!) enough to keep straight (not really ha) as it is. Yesterday’s new cute teen starlet is tomorrow’s MILF making a comeback. Getting your name out there quickly and consistently strikes me as key.

If that magical time (I make porn sound like something from Disney) does ever come where I’m on camera instead of behind this keyboard, you’ll be damn sure I’ll use Oranje.
