Strange but True

Hotel Room Porn Ban

Winona County, Minnesota has passed a “clean hotel” regulation that forbids county employees from lodging in hotels that offer porn. Why, you might ask? The county commissioner, Mena R. Kaehler, claims that pornography leads to sexual and domestic violence saying, “It just desensitizes people. This is just a small step in getting the conversation started.”What conversation? Are you suggesting that your employees are criminals?

Just because the county can’t keep its employees from participating in non-work related activities on the county’s dollar doesn’t create an excuse to formulate a collective attack on the hotel and adult industries.

The county employs 334 people but wouldn’t say have many nights those workers spent staying in hotels last year. My thought is that they’re just trying to cover up a scandal before it even breaks. Surely they should be able to supply hotel expenditure reports from their accounting department. Shouldn’t they? Shouldn’t the residents of Winona County be privy that information?

Regardless of what the officials think in Winona County, just remember it’s not porn that hurts people. It’s people that hurt people.Read the full story here.
